I mentioned in my last post that I was doing some ME things this week and last night was one of them. I attended a “Favorite Things Party” with some girls from my mom’s group. It was such a cute idea and fun night! If you haven’t ever been to a Favorite Things themed party, you need to gather a group together and host one (or get someone else to do the dirty work & then just show up!) It was my first time at that type of party, but It’s as simple as this: Prior to the party, each invitee decides on their “favorite thing”, $5 or less and then purchases 5 of that item. When you arrive at the party, you write your name down on 5 pieces of paper and put them in a box or bag. Mingle, eat & drink and then someone comes around with the bag and you draw 5 different names (no duplicates & you can’t draw your own). One by one, each person goes up to the Favorite things display table and explains to the group why they chose the item they brought to give out. Then, that person reads off the 5 names they drew and those 5 people come up and receive that item. At the end of the night, you will have given out your 5 “things” and you’ll go home with 5 other people’s fav things as well!
One of the girls made these cute bags for each person to take their 5 goodies home in!
It was a great way to get to know some of the other moms in the group because it was sort of like an icebreaker for new members of the group, as well as just learning a little something about someone that you didn’t already know. Coming up with your favorite thing to bring to the party also forces you to get your creative juices flowing because you have to stay under the $5 limit! Everyone had so much fun and we plan to do another one again. I think I want to have one with another group of girlfriends sometime too 🙂
Here is what I brought as my “favorite thing”:
It is a 6 pack of insulated market totes & each tote comes in a different design. They were a pretty big hit and numerous ladies wanted me to post the link on our group’s site so they could order their own set or split with someone if they weren’t one of the lucky 5 last night to leave with one! The set of 6 is only $24.99 on Amazon, so I handed out 5 & kept 1 for myself.
I keep a stash of these reusable bags in my car and take them into Target or the grocery store with me to carry my purchases home in. For one, its better for the environment and two, I have a ridiculous surplus of plastic grocery bags in my pantry. If you read my Pantry Overhaul post, you’ll know I just got rid of a ton of things and don’t want to clutter it up again! I also have 3 hooks behind my pantry door where I store more of these types of bags for quick access when leaving the house to run errands.

The nice thing about this set is they come packaged in these cute boxes so would make great gifts if you don’t end up hoarding all 6 for yourself!

And lastly, they are perfect bags to tote a bottle of wine or 2 over to a friend’s for a dinner party or pack up kid’s snacks, fruit etc. for an outing or picnic at the park. Ok, enough on these, but they really are great!
Other items brought to the party were:

- Foaming hand soap from Bath & Body Works

I am no expert on this type of party, but let me know if you have any questions! Have you been to a similar type of party? Was it set-up with different rules? What were some of your favorite things there?!
