Do What Makes You Oh So Happy

Do-What-Makes-You-Oh-So-HappyThis is exactly how I am feeling!  A few months ago, I started this little blogging journey to be able to share my thoughts, ideas, projects and happy moments with anyone out there looking for a little inspiration of their own.  I have a passion for creating things, making old things pretty & new again and experimenting with concepts that are unique and different (and maybe even a little intimidating) to me.  Since I’ve started writing at This is our Bliss, I have been excited, nervous, anxious, disappointed, thrilled and humbled.  Quite the rollercoaster of emotions!  There are days when I am super pumped about a ton of new project ideas and then the very next day, I feel my energy and motivation start to fizzle.  Before I know it, I am in a slump.  I know I can’t bring every idea to life because I would, A – be broke and B – never see my family! So I have realized these are the ups & downs I am going to be faced with if I want to be serious about blogging. The pressure comes along with it…I guess what I am trying to say is, I truly hope I can turn this blog into something amazing – grow a huge following, be featured in some super cool magazine someday and inspire people all over to try something new… an interesting trend, conquer an intimidating diy project or simply have the guts to try a new color in a room of their home.  So even if this little place of mine doesn’t turn into something ultra-incredible, I am learning about myself and abilities and having a great time doing it!

Right now, I am especially giddy because one of my first major blog posts / room reveals, Simon’s Nursery Reveal, showcasing several design and diy elements, has started to gain some attention.  The Pegboard Gallery wall has grown a bit of buzz on Pinterest and was featured here.  And just this Monday, the room was featured on Amazon Mom’s Top 20 Nurseries. Last week, a friend of mine let me know Amazon Mom was looking for nursery photo entries for their contest, so I submitted this one:

Simon's Nursery Reveal

Then yesterday, I saw they posted the top 5 nurseries and I was featured as the 1st place winner!  I was completely surprised since I didn’t even know they were going to rank the entries!  After I picked up my jaw off of the floor, I suddenly noticed so many of my friends and family members were posting congratulatory comments and sharing posts & photos of the room!  I am so thankful for all of my blog readers, social media followers and friends and family for the constant positive encouragement & support. I appreciate every single post “like”, new follower and especially the comments on the posts.  Maybe this will turn into a job one day, but for now it is a really, really fun hobby and like I said, I am doing what makes me oh so happy 🙂
