Hello and welcome to Part 2 of my Merry and Metallic Christmas Home Tour! Today, I’m sharing our Christmas Family Room as part of the Pink Door Holiday Tour hosted by All Things Big and Small. I’m going to refer to this part of our Christmas home as the cozy and warm side!
If you joined me here yesterday, you viewed our Merry & Metallic Christmas Living Room — filled with bright metallics, light whites, dark blacks and an overall blingy and festive space. Like a party room! Well, today, I’m cranking up the heat to show you the warm and cozy space where we truly do “FAMILY” all day, all night in here. From Paw Patrol marathons, to snack-time on a “picnic blanket” to movie nights and Netflix binges or just settling in after dinner with friends and family to hang out. We dance, we play, we sing and snuggle in this space.
At Christmastime, this is the room where are stockings are hung, the main Christmas tree stands and the fire crackles. The hot cocoa is always flowing [or a merry cocktail!] and the boys’ Christmas visions of Santa Claus coming down the chimney come to life.
This space is one of the hubs of our home all decked in merriness and more metallic [plus some traditional red!]. I hope you enjoy!
Our eat-in kitchen table is positioned just outside of the family room so it’s a nice spot for casual gatherings or grab and go meals. And now that we have a newly finished dining room, I can do my fun and fancy tablescapes in there!
Like I mentioned earlier, this is our SPOT! So our main tree sits in there with a bit more of a traditional feel with the red accents and keepsake ornaments of the boys — the handmade ones or the special “Baby’s 1st Christmas” ones that adorn the tree.
Can you spot the square ornament on the bottom right of the tree with the biggest in a blue shirt? We snapped that pic of him the day we set-up our tree the year of his first Christmas in 2012. Oh my heart!!
I was looking for a new tree topper idea this year and my mom said, “How about a grouping of poinsettias?!” YES! I just love how they look all gathered there together at the top with such a bold pop of red.
Now we can peek over at our bookcase which just joined the family room space a few weeks ago when my mom and aunt were in town visiting. We made a weekend of rearranging furniture, decorating and wining and dining. T was out of town, so when he got home the house had been flipped around and turned upside down with new furniture placements! We were on a mission ha!
The nice part about rearranging furniture or a bookcase, in this case is that I was able to remove EVERYTHING from the shelves and start fresh. Since the holidays were upon us, it took on a Christmas look. I used several pieces, frames, candlesticks, etc. that I had in it and then added some gold and red tinsel trees and mini metallic tree ornaments to Christma-fy it.
I love the added glam from the shiny and sparkly tinsel. The front of the bookcase took on a new look with an antique brass mirror instead of the white sunburst mirror I had on the front of it last Christmas. I like both options, but the gold goes with my Merry & Metallic theme this year!
Our red and ivory stockings were hung up with the same black and white striped ribbon, but this year, I added gold sunburst ornaments to the front corner of the stocking for added bling. There’s a few of them on the tree, too.
I kept the top of the mantel fairly simple with my copper beaded cone trees, garland, gold reindeer figurine and a couple of ornament-filled metal gift boxes. Next to the reindeer, sits one of my most prized Christmas possessions.
The handmade old-fashioned Santa my dad made for me. He’s such a talented artist and I think his beautiful clay Santa is the perfect touch to my decor. I need him to make me a few more!! Dad, can you get on that for next year? 😉
Our old leather coffee table isn’t my favorite furniture piece in the house, but it’s kid-friendly and easily wipe-able after their precious paws pat and play on here. Someday, I will have a white couch and glass table, but for now, I’m happy with brown beauty and our trusty leather piece!
Thank you so much for stopping over for a peak into our Merry & Metallic Christmas Family Room. I hope you were able to see why this space is our warm and cozy haven, especially this time of the year!
Don’t forget to pin for later!

December 10, 2016 at 3:24 PMThank you, Amy!! I do love the pop of red at Christmas and since I kept my other spaces sparkly and neutral, I was happy to use it throughout the family room space and with our stockings!! Oh and I’ve been working on my photography skills, so I really, really appreciate that! Merry Christmas to you and your family as well 😉

December 10, 2016 at 3:21 PMThanks, Angela!! I’m so happy I decided to keep some red in the house for the holidays. I love how my living and dining spaces look completely neutral, but there’s something about RED that belongs in the house at Christmas — so the family room, it was!!
