I can hardly believe it myself, but I’m coming in with my first Fall post of the year! I know, it’s only August and the kids are barely back to school, BUT! We bloggers and influencers are doing what we can to stay ahead of the curve and give you all the inspiration you need as you start to decorate your homes and dress for the cooler temps! I mean, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale started in July and the boots and sweaters were flying off the shelves! So in other words, I hope it’s not too early to share a little DIY Fall decor for this season’s My Dollar Store DIY. Today, I’m sharing How to Make a Darling DIY Mini Pumpkin Topiary for Under $5!
And what’s even better is that this entire project from start to finish took me – maybe 5 minutes and that’s because my hot glue gun took about 3 minutes to heat up!
I promise this is one of the quickest and easiest DIY decor projects I’ve assembled.
My mini pumpkin topiary is a great size and can easily be toted around from spot to spot and I did it in neutral colors so if I’m not feeling the burnt orange or rusty reds, I can still enjoy this cute little thing! It’s sleek and simple and doesn’t involve any hardcore crafting skills or time!
Let me first start by telling you what I used to make my DIY Mini Pumpkin Topiary.
MINI PUMPKIN TOPIARY SUPPLIES
- 3 pumpkins [ideally 3 different sizes – I found velvet, plain and glitter ones in varying sizes at my local Dollar Tree]
- glass candle holder [Dollar Tree]
- hot glue gun + hot glue
MINI PUMPKIN TOPIARY DIRECTIONS
This project was came about as most of my Dollar Store DIY’s do.
By total accident!
I popped into my local Dollar Tree for some gift wrap supplies and immediately got distracted. They had their Fall and Halloween decor out! And of course they always have the upcoming holiday’s gear right up front by the door so you can’t help but stop to poke around!
I spotted the prettiest velvet pumpkins in a bin and knew at least a few were coming home with me. The taupe was so pretty, the ivory was neutral and a no-brainer and then there was these gorgeous hunter green ones. [I didn’t end up using the green ones in this project since I wanted to keep it neutral, but I’m thinking of all the places I can splash the green! Probably our kitchen and our master bedroom because of the green already in those spaces!]
They had some plain pumpkins and some sparkly ones, so I grabbed them all and gathered the rest on my shopping list.
When I got home I looked at the pumpkins and thought it would be so fun to try to make something with all the neutral colored pumpkins. At first I thought a wreath, but then remembered I had a glass candle holder in my stash. One I’d scooped up a long time ago from Dollar Tree.
I would stack them up and make a Mini Pumpkin Topiary!
All I did was this…
- Plug in hot glue gun.
- Pop the stems off of the largest and medium-sized pumpkins.
- Run the hot glue gun around the rim of the candle holder and place the large pumpkin centered on top. Then add a small amount on top of the large one and place the medium one on top of it.
- Lastly, take the smallest pumpkin and press it down on top of the others. I left the stem of the top pumpkin on, but you could take it off if you wanted a clean look!
That’s it! It was seriously 5 minutes or less and under $5 – $4 to be exact!
These could make really pretty Fall Mantel decor pieces or even a few of them could go on your Fall tablescape as a centerpiece idea!
I strongly encourage you to try this if you want to quickly stop to grab some Dollar tree pumpkins and have a couple of minutes to assemble a mini pumpkin topiary!
I’m still swooning over the velvet one on the bottom! And you know I have total heart eyes for the coppery glitter one on top!
