The Dressser… Finally!

dresser collage

Sorry I haven’t been around much this past week.  My husband was traveling for work so my mom was here for a visit.  Although we had some downtime around the house, we were busy out running around doing some shopping, having lunch and the usual things we do when my mom and I get together!  When we were home, we were relaxing, playing with Henry, cooking dinner or catching up on our favorite shows.  Bottom line… I didn’t do any blogging, but did come up with some great stuff I can post about soon!  It was so nice to have her here for those 4 days 🙂  Weekend visits always seem to go too fast, so the extra couple of nights were perfect.  One of our stops last week was to IKEA (big surprise).  Since there isn’t an IKEA in Iowa, it seems we always have to hit mine up when she is here.  Its one of those places that you could spend all day in… browsing around AND waiting in line!  We went on Saturday morning because the dresser I wanted to pick up for the baby’s room was just getting restocked and didn’t want to make a 3rd trip there to get the dresser and have it be OUT OF STOCK as it was on our previous trips.  Don’t you hate when you go somewhere with a specific purpose and then FAIL… coming home without the dresser several times before, but still managing to fill up your cart with other things you just HAVE to have?  Yeah. Story of my life.

So, the good news is – I bought the white Hemnes dresser and they just permanently reduced the price from $299 to $229 (much to my delight). Score.

Here are a few images of the dresser I have been eyeing on Pinterest.

The above image / blog shows, not only an amazing little boy nursery, but such great organization in the dresser drawers as I am also going to be using the dresser as a changing table too.  There you have it!  My dresser / changing table inspiration.  I think it will be a great piece with 4 large drawers and 4 smaller drawers up top.  I have yet to decide if I am going to do anything to jazz it up.  Maybe change out the knobs? Find some nice organizers for in the drawers?  We shall see!

Not much else to report from our household.  The weather is gradually warming up, so we went for a walk today. I guess that is a lot to report / celebrate in itself!  Hoping to crank out a few DIY project posts this week so come back for a look.  Until then…

How did the dresser hold up? Really want to buy one but hearing mixed reviews. A lot of complaints of the bottom of the drawers sagging with the weight of clothes

I absolutely love the dresser! The drawers glide nicely, are lined with gray and white striped liner and have had zero sagging issues. My son is only 17 months, so his clothes are small and lightweight still (and I don’t have the drawers filled to the brim)! The drawers are quite spacious, so you’d really have to fill them up with some heavy gear, I would imagine! Can’t beat the price either 😉
