I have officially declared 2015 the year of “Clear out & STAY out!” I’ve been through my closet at least a half a dozen times, pulling clothes out to consign & donate. I have also gone at my kitchen cabinets, junk drawers, pantry, playroom, coat closets & linen closet in the same fashion. Although we have only been in our house less than 3 years, we have accumulated piles of junk in every nook & cranny around here. Please tell me I am not the only one! I partially blame this on several moves in a short period of time and getting antsy to unpack, but not taking the time to actually find a good home for all of our things. We / I tend to shove things out of sight and then when I get around to clearing out that area, I am so mad at myself I don’t even want to take a second glance. As for the clothes in my closet…well, I will admit. I do have a slight shopping problem, but I am working on it; I promise 😉
All of these closet cleaning rants eventually brought me to our upstairs linen closet. While tossing out old towels and bagging up blankets to donate, I once again noticed how useless our closet shelving was. We decided awhile ago the shelves. needed. to. GO. They really just needed to be ripped out & new ones put in. The original ones were wire shelving that were installed at about half capacity or at 1/2 the depth of the closet. In other words, the whole front of the closet was shelfless and even our smallest, shortest, skinniest stack of towels hung off the front edge.
I was tired of spending time neatly folding towels and blankets just to have them constantly fall off the shelf. So, at the end of last year, we decided this year we would give the closet a bit of a makeover.
Remember this list from my 2015 goals post?
Ted was excited to be able to use some tools in the garage 🙂 and I was happy because I had a new space to design & decorate, albeit a closet.
So today I am popping in to give a quick sneak peek of what went on in this little space over the weekend. We dove in head-first & I am in love with how it is all coming together.
I will be back soon to share the DIY projects & full reveal – you don’t want to miss the juicy details!I can’t wait to tell you what this little patterned beauty actually is!
