I hate to admit this, but I think I am almost all fall-ed out. It is a hard thing to admit because as a blogger, I’m totally guilty of it. The fall crafts, décor & DIY’s come flying out of the gates in August, with a slight change-up for Halloween and then back at it for Thanksgiving. Months and months of it!
Buuut, I do think it is time to get the ball rolling for the… ahem… next holiday in line and its not even November yet.
I can’t help it, but I’m ready for something new!… a new color palette…new vignettes…new signage… you catch my drift?!! Its the most wonderful time of the year 😉
So as I get ready to bid this season goodbye, I thought an ode to one of my fave fall décor DIY’s of all time was a good idea for Think again Thursday.
Did you guys see my DIY Fall Pillows? Plaid is hot right now and I seriously could not be more in love with this project.
I am not the first person to make pillows out of table linens and I won’t be the last. If you are on board with this idea, then great! If you are sort of intrigued and find yourself hunting down great cloth napkins, but don’t really see yourself using them in a table setting, well, then you are in luck!
Today, I am going to share my 5 ideas for how to use a cloth napkin [other than the obvious!].
5 ways to use cloth napkins:
1 | pillows
I’ve said it a million times and I’ll say it again…just sew 2 together and voila! You’ve got yourself a pillow cover! Place a pillow insert inside and you have a new accessory for your couch or chair (or entryway table!).
2 | wall art
Here on the pegboard gallery wall in Simon’s nursery, I simply framed pieces of fabric (the navy & white alphabet and the bright colored geo / triangles). Napkins are made up of some fabulous fabrics!
Simply place a napkin behind a crisp white mat inside of a frame and hang it up on the wall or lean it on a shelf or bookcase to instantly add a pop of color, punch of pattern and a bit of texture to your space. (See how I made another DIY wall art piece with a journal cover here)
3 | placemat
Many people use napkins as a placemat or charger plate instead. Place your charger plate (or skip the charger) and / or dinner plate right on top of the napkin. Easy table transformation for any occasion.
See here for just one of the MANY beautiful tablescapes created by Courtney of A Thoughtful Place. She is the queen of a beautifully styled table with tons of great quick & easy DIY’s to go along with.
4 | quilt
Use cloth napkins as you would use regular fabric for a quilting project!
5 | wine bottle gift wrap
I love this one! Take your napkin (dish towels work great for this, too) and lay it out flat. Place a wine bottle in the center and pull your four corners up around it. Secure the napkin or cloth with a piece of jute twine and some festive ribbon. Quick & cute hostess gift! Use the napkin to wrap any sort of gift! You can get these gold foil confetti dot napkins here.
Surely you aren’t already burnt out of this nifty napkin thing?! I hope not because tomorrow I am sharing my top 5 cloth napkins for 5 Fab Friday Finds! Festive fallish napkins to take you right into Thanksgiving. Add some pizzazz to your table or try out one of these other 5 ideas from today.
In other news, I’m working on some new printables to add to my etsy shop and will let you all know when they become available! Plugging away at the basement, getting ready for trick-or-treaters and getting materials organized for a new project hopefully starting in the next couple of weeks – details coming soon!
