Spring is on the brain, not so much in the air though! Chicagoland just won’t warm up! I feel like right after our annual Cancun trip & my birthday, I’m ready to put winter behind me and start gearing up for warmer weather and all things Spring.
Don’t you just love the when the grass starts to green…the flowers start to bloom…and the days get longer and longer?!!
Ahhh yes! Me too! And since I have all those lovely spring things on my mind, I thought I’d share my Spring tablescape with you – it’s feminine and bold full of flowers, greens & lots of pattern play!
I’ll admit. I was trying to stay super springy with bright, yet soft colors, but honestly, I couldn’t fight the urge to toss in some black and white!
No surprise there!
FEMININE & BOLD SPRING TABLE DETAILS
It was calling for it!! My feminine table suddenly took a slightly edgy turn when I added in some patterned black and white plates [a Target clearance item from last year – they were dyyyying to come out of the cooped up cupboard] and my black and white striped bowls.
But, I tell ya – I love what it did to the table!
My tablecloth provides the somewhat traditional springy colors and I love that its a fun floral print, so the b + w are like my “pops”. I didn’t go overboard with the black and white, but just enough to give it a bit of a bold look.
sigh.
If only I could keep my table set like this for the whole season! You’ll notice that the table linens don’t have an ounce of black in them, but I decided since black is a neutral and a classic, it can go with anything. ANYTHING.
Rules are meant to be broken so that’s what I’ll do. I’m actually not entirely well-versed on the do’s and don’ts of a tablescape, but since its not a super formal setting, I decided I was going to do whatever my heart desired. wrong or right!
The table is set for Easter brunch, so I’m using my stemless champagne glasses as juice glasses…my mini wine carafes as champagne carafes [instant mimosa for those who wish to indulge ;)]…
…silverware isn’t on the table, but rather on my Easter brunch beverage bar behind the table [more on that space next week]…
none of the black and white plates are the same…
[4 similar patterns + 2 plain black ones at the heads of the table]…
and the napkins are different, too! Some turquoise and ivory striped with lace trim and the heads have gold foil polka dot naps!
You see, you really CAN use what you have and what you LIKE!
Your house, your table, your prerogative.
This new blue-tinted vase is centerstage of the table and houses my all-time favorite flower.
Another simple touch was tying a piece of ribbon around the moss-covered bunny. I placed one on each side of the centerpiece. I grew up eating pounds of mini speckled eggs [aka whopper eggs] around Easter time because they were, and still are my mom’s favorite Easter candy. So, I filled the black & white striped dishes with them and on the table they went, too.
I don’t have a great shot, but I added some ribbon to plain white craft eggs and sharpied a few designs on them and sprinkled a few on each side of the table.
So, I’m declaring this my feminine & bold Spring table! It was super easy to achieve this look and I’ve even linked up the sources for you down below. Some items I’ve had around here for awhile and a few things I picked up this year. Like the cutie egg salt and pepper shakers!
And since we have family in from out of town to be together and celebrate, I set-up a simple Easter Brunch Beverage bar. Everyone can help themselves to a drink!
That pretty much covers the table! I hope you were able to find some Spring inspiration here today!
