I can’t believe it myself. I’m *finally* sharing the details of our Laundry Room Makeover! Remember when our old washing machine failed us almost 2 years ago and this unplanned project took off? Well, today I’m here sharing where our little Laundry Room landed after chipping away at this space little-by-little. A few new key pieces, a couple DIY projects and some time later, our Organized and Chic Laundry Room Reveal is here!

Our small laundry room finally received the love that it deserved, even if it took awhile to cross the finish line!
Sometimes the end-result is worth the wait. No matter how long that might be!

AN ORGANIZED & CHIC LAUNDRY ROOM
If you remember back to our “flood” a couple Summers ago, then you’ll remember me tell you how we ended up having to tear out the laundry room flooring, rip out existing hardwood and drywall in our mudroom/garage entryway as well as in our entire basement. So this wasn’t just a laundry room project.
It was actually a total basement project, which so far has included our Basement Bathroom and our Basement Guestroom – that one I pulled off for only $100!
The main living area and playroom have yet to make it to the blog. I need to spend a few weeks down there first!
After the laundry room flooring was laid, drywall fixed and new paint put on the walls. We added a new cabinet base, sink and countertop, but didn’t change the layout of the space. It was simply upgrading what had been there before the incident.
OUR LAUNDRY ROOM BEFORE & DURING
I don’t have any true “before” pictures because, well, we didn’t know we were going to have to take on this project!
OUR LAUNDRY ROOM PLAN
At this point, I decided I was going to go all in and really make this small laundry room space more functional and more aesthetically pleasing. After all, I do spend A LOT of my time in here! #boymomlife
Back in that original laundry room post, I shared my vision for the small Laundry Room space.
gray cabinets || white cabinet base || light fixture || countertop || gold pulls || fold-down drying rack || gold vase || gold basket || marble shelves || hamper || abstract art || black faucet || faux pink flowers
Ahhh! I couldn’t wait to bring this to life!
We didn’t end up going with the front loading washer, but did get a new washer & dryer since the old washing machine was the culprit, after all. We love our new washer and dryer so much! They’re efficient, have touch screen controls with memory, LED display and so much more! We also love the steam feature of the dryer along with 24 other dry settings!
They were the most expensive additions to the space, but everything else was done at a fairly minimal cost.
And remember, we did it over a couple of years ha!
We diy’d a few aspects, purchased a few necessary pieces to get things organized and the rest of the decorating came from shopping our house! Alright, now let’s see these AFTER shots!

I really didn’t know I would be this excited to have the laundry room complete. Because the truth is, I was just thrilled to have one located on the main floor in this house! I truly didn’t think it would ever turn into a space I love!

LAUNDRY ROOM PROJECTS
We took on a couple other projects including hanging floating shelves for added Laundry Room storage and organization. We also gave the existing cabinets a face-lift by painting them in a day. This paint has served us well since using it on our powder room vanity, the guestroom dresser makeover and most recently, the entryway table.

We love this stuff!
What a transformation the gray painted cabinets made! It really looked like an entirely new space! I then tackled another DIY project using these glass peel & stick tiles. It was quite a job, but so much more cost-effective than hiring out a big tile job! I even taught myself how to cut glass. And yes, I am pretty proud of that!
All that was left after the cabinet painting and tile project, was operation: Make the Laundry Room functional AND pretty!
OUR LAUNDRY ROOM STORAGE & ORGANIZATION
The floating shelves are styled with a mix of thrifted books, black dollar tree bins, woven baskets from Target and gray lidded storage bins [similar here].
The mini faux olive tree was a Homegoods find [but this one is almost identical!] and the black knot object came home with me from another HG shopping trip!
The baskets on the shelves and on top of the cabinets house miscellaneous decor items along with batteries, light bulbs back-up detergents, paper towel rolls, Clorox wipes, etc. The cabinets are filled with some of the same and then most of my vases and candlesticks.

Our home has very limited storage space, so we utilize our closets as best as we can and then spots like the laundry room get some of the spillover! Even the tops of the cabinets! It is a small laundry room, so I didn’t want to leave any unused space. I wanted it all to be utilized in a way that worked for us.

Underneath the cabinets sits our wine fridge. You never know when you might need a glass on laundry night 😉 all kidding aside, it was the only logical place to put it when we moved in. Our basement bar area already had a wine fridge installed.
I knew I wanted laundry hampers of some sort to sit underneath the counter and tried several different types of bins and baskets before I landed on these tall black hampers. Three of them fit perfectly and they are tall enough so that you can’t see what kind of mess is inside!
You know we all need storage like that sometimes.
OUR LAUNDRY ROOM ACCESSORIES & DECOR
One of the first things we added after the flooring, base cabinet, countertop, sink and faucet was installed as this black and gold light fixture. My mom originally found this light for her home and at a little over $100, I thought it was the perfect semi-flush mount light for our Laundry Room. Plus, I couldn’t resist the black and gold geometric design.
It sort of reminds me of our kitchen lighting, but on a much smaller scale.

We added these glam black and gold knobs to the cabinet doors. You might recognize them because they’re the same knobs we installed in our Basement bathroom vanity.
On the countertop next to the sink, I picked up a rattan tray on clearance at Homegoods and added a few of my go-to laundry items. And put them in these great lidded acrylic storage containers! I have my OXI clean powder, laundry detergent pods and clothespins. In my amber glass spray bottles, I have Shout and Dreft.
I swear by both Shout spray and Oxiclean powder for stain removal!
A small dish also sits on the tray for when I find miscellaneous things in pockets. If it’s money, it’s mine! Anyone else have that rule in their house?
I scooped up the old sewing machine graphic art on clearance at HomeGoods and the black and white abstract art has been bouncing around this house since I first put it on the wall in the Guestroom in our old house for the One Room Challenge.

I firmly believe in shopping your house when you’re working on decorating a room. Pull things out of storage or shift them around from another room. With this art print, I just bought a new gold frame with a white mat and leaned it against the wall. The new frame gave it a whole new look and brought a little something to this side of the room.

On the opposite wall, we added wall hooks for hanging tote bags or other miscellaneous items near the door. A couple floral art prints that used to be hanging in the dining room went in the middle of the wall. And on the far end near the window, we put up this wall-mounted drying rack.

I love that it folds up and hugs the wall when not in use! Super helpful in a small and narrow laundry room.
We hung an old black curtain rod and a pair of light gray curtain panels. We only have one window in the room, so wanted the panels to be sheer enough to let some light in. They are mainly for style and texture vs. privacy. The window also has white blinds that were on when we moved in.

And last but not least, this leopard print runner went down and makes me so happy every time I walk in the room! You know I have this thing with leopard. I’m not sure why I haven’t had a leopard rug somewhere in our house until now.
I love how the golden tan color compliments the woven baskets and the black spots work well with the black touches in the knobs and art throughout.
I absolutely love how this space came together. The fact that I don’t mind being in here 24/7 is beyond belief, but I promise it feels good!!
One last look at the original to-do list before I share the sources for everything included in our organized and chic laundry room!
