It’s no secret I love all things black and white. From wallpaper, pillows and rugs, to clothes and gallery walls. I love bold contrast! You’ll see black and white pattern and design in every room in our home and on most days, in my outfit. I swoon for classic stripes, polka dots and animal prints, but any use of the black and white combo is a pretty sure bet I’ll be crazy for it. And black and white art is no exception. There isn’t one room in our home without a piece, so today, I’m sharing 20+ Bold Black and White Art Prints for Your Home! And showing you how some of the pieces look on the walls of OUR home!
20+ BOLD BLACK AND WHITE ART PRINTS FOR YOUR HOME
When I’m looking to put the finishing touch on a space, it’s almost guaranteed I’ll sprinkle in a few black and white accents.
And probably some gold, too, while I’m at it! 😉
A pillow, throw blanket or art print are among the easiest accessories to help “tie up” the room. By adding any of these decorative elements, especially in a bold black and white print, it’s bound to make a statement.
One of the main reasons I love contrast is that it draws your eye in. Essentially creating a focal point.
Since I’m always on the hunt for beautiful black and white art prints to use in our home, I thought it would be fun to show you a few examples of where I’ve used them in the past. Some of my favorites get rotated from room to room and others I have in more than one room at the same time!
If you love it, you love it!
Now let’s take a look at all the spaces I’ve hung black and white art prints!
BLACK AND WHITE ART IN THE…
…BIG AND BOLD IN THE FAMILY ROOM
This art print is big [20″ x 30″] and bold and I love how it looks against our dark accent wall. The family room colors are neutral, so a black and white print is right at home in here. The muted brass frame softens it up, while adding a touch of glam.
I originally got this art print for our Master Bedroom, but decided it belonged right here above this chair. I loved how it looked peeking out from our Christmas Tree in the family room last year.
…LEANING ART IN THE MASTER BEDROOM
There is definitely no shortage of black and white in our bedroom, but I love the lines of this geometric art print against the large, abstract floral pattern of the wallpaper.
Before leaning this print, I used to have a photo of one of the table centerpieces at our wedding reception printed in black and white here in this spot above the nightstand. I’ve since moved that downstairs to the guestroom and put this one in it’s place.
I don’t think you can have too much black and white!
…SIMPLE DIY BLACK AND WHITE ART IN THE BATHROOM
I have 2 different black and white art prints in our Basement Guest Bathroom.
One was a Target purchase from a couple years ago and the other one is a 5 Minute DIY Sharpie art piece. The walls are a light gray with black, white, gold and blue accents.
The art really pops off of the light-colored walls!
…A MIX OF ART IN THE DINING ROOM
I went a little art happy in our Dining Room when I designed it for the One Room Challenge a few years ago. I decided to stack 3 frames under these gorgeous sconces and 3 of the 6 prints were black and white art prints.
This floral art print and this other floral print, along with a black, white and gold DIY geometric art piece I originally made for the Basement Bathroom in our last house.
…A VARIETY OF ART PIECES IN THE NURSERY
Winston’s Nursery is a neutral space to begin with so the black and white art blends really well.
Recognize this print? Yep! Its the same one as in the Basement Guest Bathroom. I loved it so much I needed it in 2 rooms!
This is the type of art piece I’d like to try to create on my own. It would be fun to experiment with a design inspired by this print!
The other black and white “art” across the room is a framed sonogram and a black and white typography print that reads “I love you so.” I included both pieces in this small gallery wall with the larger abstract art piece and I love how the three look hung together.
Its sweet and simple 🙂
…ALPHABET ART IN THE BOYS’ ROOMS
Just as in the nursery, I’ve also used black and white typography prints in both the boys’ rooms. In the biggest’s Big Boy Room, I hung this Alphabet print in his reading corner. It’s such a simple, yet playful piece.
And in the middle’s big boy room, we put this “It’s Cool to be Kind” print on his dresser for only a few dollars!
… BLACK AND WHITE SIMPLICITY IN THE NEUTRAL LAUNDRY ROOM
I shifted a couple pieces from various rooms and brought them into our newly finished Laundry Room. After taking the 6 frames down in the Dining Room and swapping them for 2 vertical mirrors, I was happy to bring them out of storage to fill some wall space in the Laundry Room.
I put both floral prints side-by-side on the large wall and the DIY black and gold piece on top of the hooks.
On the counter, I put this black and white abstract piece into a new matte gold frame and leaned it on the wall. I bought this one to hang in our Guestroom at our last house when I revamped it for the One Room Challenge back in the Spring of 2015. You can see how I created a statement piece using this print in this post here!
… BLACK WHITE AND GOLD IN THE KITCHEN
In the kitchen, I have another piece leaning against the wall on the counter by the wine area. This is one from the set of coordinating pieces I created for the Neutral Glam Basement Bathroom in our old house.
I can’t believe how many times these art prints have played musical rooms over here! I guess that’s the nice part about a black and white art piece.
You can scoot it into any room in your home and it should work!!
… A SMALL WALL IN THE GUESTROOM
We’ve had two different guestrooms set-up in this house. One was what is now Simon’s Big Boy Room, but used to be the guestroom / office. I had a little $3 Hobby Lobby clearance framed art print hung near the bed and I actually might be using it on a gallery wall in my new office!
The room had soft gray walls with splashes of color on the bedding and pillows, so a black and white was an easy addition.
The recently updated Basement Guestroom was made-over with $100 and a little elbow grease. I created a gallery wall around the TV with old photos, spray-painted, thrifted frames and digital art prints from Etsy.
This $6 black and white one in the center below is my favorite!
Yes! It was only $6!
What I love most about buying digital / downloadable art from Etsy is that you can have it printed in any size, framed any way and placed in any room. Not only that, but since you own the file, you can have it printed over and over again!
This guy is on the wall in the guestroom, in our entryway and currently on our Fall Mantel as well!
I really do have a crush on this one I’m realizing!
It’s probably pretty obvious that black and white art pieces aren’t the only black & white things that make my heart go pitter patter. Our home is full of black and white prints and patterns! I’ve shared some of my favorite black and white rugs in the past and a black and white pillow post is another requested round-up!
WHY I LOVE BLACK AND WHITE ART PRINTS
- Versatility – The art can work in any space and with any color palette. Bright colors, muted colors, neutrals – black and white goes with them all.
- Timeless – Whether its a modern abstract art piece or a classic black and white photo, the colors never go out of style.
- Accessibility – You can purchase inexpensive pieces or create them yourselves. All you need is white paper and a black sharpie! Seriously! If you aren’t a DIY’er and don’t want to buy any, then have a family photo printed in black & white. Instant black and white art!
I hope you were able to snag some inspiration by seeing some of these art pieces in our home. I have my eyes on quite a few more pieces, but it’s just a matter of how much empty wall space is left around here. And let me tell you, there’s not much!
Don’t forget to pin for later!
The gallery below is full of clickable images with shoppable links that I’ll be updating as I hunt down more gorgeous bold black and white art prints. There are some great pieces and all come in multiple sizes and are at various price points. There is something for everyone!
*TIP: If you’re not sure how something will look in your home, then start small. Purchase a small digital art print for a few dollars, download and print it and put it in a frame you already have. Place it in your space and see how you like it. If you end up loving it, order it in a larger size or try another print and go from there!
