It’s about that time to start planning your holiday menus! And your tablesetting! While putting together my Thanksgiving Amazon Finds Under $35 post, I decided several most of the items were calling my name, too! I put together a super simple Thanksgiving Tablescape using this black and white Buffalo Plaid table runner as my starting point. It’s $10 and such a classic print, you’ll be able to use it all season long! Today I’m sharing How to Use Classic Buffalo Plaid on Your Thanksgiving Table!
Black and white can be the foundation for any color scheme because of it’s neutrality. But I am especially loving it with these burnt orange and burgundy hues!
HOW TO SET A SIMPLE THANKSGIVING TABLE WITH CLASSIC BUFFALO PLAID
I often get asked how I plan my tablescapes and typically, I start by selecting a color scheme or pattern and then build the table from there. In this particular Thanksgiving table, I began with a classic buffalo plaid table runner and then added in some texture with the charger plates and Fall colors with the centerpiece and napkins.
This runner is such a great entertaining staple because you can literally use it year-round! I especially love it in the Fall and Winter though.
USE CLASSIC BUFFALO PLAID AS THE MAIN FEATURE
Simply lay your Buffalo Plaid table runner down and then begin putting down each placesetting. I used rattan charger plates, everyday round dinner plates and then a black salad plate on top. I liked the idea of black and white plates to complement the runner.
LAYER IN AUTUMN TONES
Next, I brought in a rich burgundy hue with these beautiful cloth napkins. I have this same set in green and figured the burgundy would also be beautiful at Christmas time or even Valentine’s Day. I hosted a Galentine’s Day party last year and the pinky hues of my table would pair so nicely with the burgundy!
My floral arrangement is full of orange and yellow flowers with a few touches of green. I think all the Fall leaf colors are present here!
USE GOLD TO WARM UP THE TABLE
My gold flatware and shiny gold napkin rings add a little glam, but also keep the table from feeling too cool. Black and white can often make a space seem cold, but the pretty fall colors and the bright gold keep everything warm and inviting!
And once you put your yummy food platters and delicious drinks down on the table, your guests will feel even more cozied up!
You can use classic Buffalo Plaid on your Thanksgiving table in other ways, too. I love the idea of buffalo plaid napkins, placemats or even a throw blanket or set of decorative pillows in other areas of your home this time of year. I also love the idea of using Buffalo Plaid ribbon – tying bows on your wreaths or even a small bow to keep your flatware together or around a folded napkin.
Red and green will pair so beautifully with this pattern. Of course stripes and leopard print will, too 😉
Don’t you agree?!
And if you’re hunting for the perfect Thanksgiving door mat to greet your guests – I have the perfect combo! This “GATHER” door mat layered on top of this Buffalo Check rug. So cute, right!
