Sound the horn and ring the bells! Today is my first Christmas Home Tour of the year! You saw my Christmas Mantel last week, but I’m shifting spaces and giving you a peek inside our Living Room and staircase which was decked for the first time this year! Come on in and have a look at Our Simple & Elegant Christmas Living Room!
I’m thrilled to be joining Krista of the Happy Housie for the Seasonal Simplicity Christmas Series again this week! If you’re stopping over from Stacy Risenmay, then welcome! I’m so happy you’ve joined me here today! After you’re done scrolling through my living room tour, make sure you stop by the rest of my friends sharing today! We have a total of 50 tours this week!
I’ve cleared the toys and vacuumed the crumbs, so come on in and have a look around. It won’t stay looking like this for long!!
A SIMPLE & ELEGANT CHRISTMAS LIVING ROOM
After a quick and painless game of musical Christmas trees, our oldest and largest tree now sits proudly here our Living Room! After my dream of owning a flocked tree came true this year, we decided to put the new one in the Family Room and relocate this 9 footer to our 2 story Living Room.
I love this tree in here nestled in the corner between 2 windows at the front of the house. I no longer have to stand my 7′ tree on a small table with an extra large tree skirt to cover it! #secretsoutnow
You’ve seen this room decked in red for Christmas before, but this year I decided to stick with my go-to neutrals and metallics. I love how the black and white keeps it feeling classic, but fresh and modern at the same time.
There is never a shortage of gold in any space in our home, but I take full advantage of the opportunity to add in allll the metallics at Christmastime! 😉
These brass deer made their way into the house after a donation drop-off [oops], but I assure you I purged many bags in that run and these little guys were just too cute to pass up at just $5.99 each.
I told myself I was on a strict “no spend” rule when it came to Christmas decorations this year. The goals was to clear out and not bring more in! I did pretty good…The only items I picked up were the pre-lit garland I used on the staircase, the satin ribbon on the mantel and the banister and these beautiful green velvet pillow covers!
GARLAND WITH BLACK SATIN RIBBON BOWS ON THE STAIRCASE
The pillow covers come in a set of 2 for only $12.99 making it so easy and affordable to freshen up your home for the holidays. Simply use an old pillow insert from one of your current pillows and swap the covers.
Isn’t the rich and bold green so gorgeous?!
Bringing in a few larger, more practical pieces made more sense to me than bags and bags of Hobby Lobby and Target $1 spot finds. Please tell me you can relate!
I’m so pleased with the quality of the garland and I absolutely love how it looks along the staircase. They even have a built-in timer for the lights! But in all honesty, I think the bows actually steal the show!
I might write a post on how I secured the garland to the banister with the large satin bows to achieve the simple and elegant look I was going for. I’ve wanted to do it for years!
How do you think I did?!
SIMPLE CHRISTMAS MOMENTS
I wanted simple, but beautiful Christmas moments throughout the house and I had a little fun putting this one together.
Pattern play, glam ornaments and a darling print on the wall. I’m calling it a Christmas moment win!
Stop back tomorrow to get this ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ free Christmas art printable. You’ll be able to download, print and frame it to make a Christmas moment in your own home!
After using the ribbon on the stockings on the mantel and on the staircase, I had plenty leftover to use for my gift wrapping. Basic white boxes and beautiful black ribbon keep things simple under the tree, too!! 😉 All I need to do is add my Christmas gift tags on a few more and we are set.
Although there is still a lot of Christmas in this room, I fought the urge to keep putting out more and more.It feels great to simplify [whatever that might mean to you] and enjoy the those little Christmas “moments”.
I tend to be a maximalist when it comes to decor, especially at Christmas, but simple and elegant is definitely something I can now get behind!
How do you decorate for the holidays? Do you go all out or keep it to a minimum?!
Now, be sure to head over to my friend, Heather at Southern State of Mind’s tour to see her beautiful Christmas kitchen! All of the tours are linked below. Enjoy!

December 3, 2019 at 10:54 AMYour rooms look elegant. My husband and I spent money buying new outdoor garlands and wreathes this year, so I promised I wouldn’t go crazy inside. I got free tree cuttings at Home Depot to make an Advent wreath and bought citrine green ribbon to tie loose bows on just about everything. Ribbon can make a big difference as your home shows. Beautiful.
