My first Fall space of the year is done and ready to share! I went into Fall mode last week with the cooler temps and it had me buying mums and pulling out the pumpkin bin! I decided our mantel was the first place to get some Fall love. We spend the most time in our Family Room so it made the most sense to get it started to be able to enjoy all season long! Today I’m sharing my take on A Warm & Cozy Fall Mantel.
And I’m joining 25 other ladies in another edition of the Seasonal Simplicity Fall Series hosted by Krista of the Happy Housie. Be sure to stick around and see the gorgeous mantel styling all the girls came up with this year. They never cease to impress and inspire me!
You can see all of my past Fall posts in the Season Simplicity series here.
WARM & COZY FALL MANTEL DECOR
If you’re popping in today for the first time welcome! I’m Rachael and this is where I share all things home, style and life. I’m a wife and mom to 3 boys. Life is crazy, but oh-so-sweet! I was born and raised in Iowa, but we currently live in the northern suburbs of Chicago. I hope you find a dose of inspiration here today and take a minute to browse around!
At the end of the post, I’ll be sharing all of the sources from today’s post as well as links to past Fall inspired posts, including previously Fall styled mantels!
Our Family Room / Kitchen area is one large, open space and is truly the hub of our home. We watch movies, play games and a spontaneous fort or pillow fight might be spotted in here as well! When we gather during the Fall and Winter months, you can guarantee our fireplace is on. Well, I guess if I am in the room, it’s a sure bet you’ll find the fire flickering!
WARM, TRADITIONAL FALL COLORS
I love bold pattern and contrast and tend to predominately stick to neutrals in our home.
I decided to spice up the mantel for Fall with a warm and cozy vibe this year. By using elements found in nature in rich, traditional Fall colors, the mantel instantly felt like Fall.
And twinkle lights just make everything prettier, right?!
NATURAL ELEMENTS TO ADD TEXTURE
Last year, I draped Eucalyptus clippings across the mantel letting them drape over the edge and then placed pumpkins all around. [see last year’s Fall mantel here] This year I wanted to use more traditional colors with reds, oranges and yellows. And my vision included the fairy lights from the start.
The leaf garland was from Hobby Lobby and I’ve had the twinkle lights for years. There are 8 light settings and can be controlled with a remote. They’ve landed on our Christmas table and made appearances at parties.
I laid the lights in the leaves and then gathered the end and fed it into one of the glass vases before adding cotton stems to it.
SHOP YOUR HOUSE & USE WHAT YOU HAVE
The vases are actually thrifted gray glass jars I had on our Laundry Room shelves. These vases with LED candles would be a really great alternative! I placed them on the stack of books that were there from my Summer Mantel, then I added grass [$2 clearance item and cotton stems [$1.60 each] from Michaels.
One mercury pumpkin from my Fall bin later and the mantel was done!

The dark accent wall in our Family Room always gives off a moody tone, but with the Fall colors and twinkling lights, this might be one of my favorite mantels to date!
It’s a amazing what you can do with a few dollars and a very well-stocked Fall storage tote. Ha!
Anyone else have alllll the Fall decor tucked away in storage?! It doesn’t compare to my Christmas storage, but I have collected a lot of Fall goodies over the years.
Have you started your Fall decorating yet? Does your mantel get any love this time of the year?

If you need me, I’ll be curled up here with my coffee and my latest read. Lazy Fall days are my favorite!
If you’re ready to get your Fall on, here are some of my sources. If I didn’t have an exact link for something, I tried to find something similar. Please let me know if you have any questions at all!
Now be sure to stop by my friends’ mantels to see what they’ve created! And as always, a big thanks to Krista!
