Hello out there! We are a week into October which only means one thing with kids in our house. It’s full-on Halloween time! Costume talk and prep, scary movies and lots and lots of treats. Already! One super simple way to keep things fun and festive around here is an extra special Halloween treat. Today I’m sharing these spook-tacular Oreo Cookie Spiders I made for the boys!
I’m not sure what Halloween will look like this year, but I do know I want to keep things as fun and “normal” around here as possible. I decided one way to do that would be by having cute Halloween-themed after school snacks a few times leading up to the 31st.
And since Oreos are a fan favorite in our house, I knew I had the perfect plan. Remember those lunchbox love notes I made for the boys in February? Their favorite cookies went inside!
OREO COOKIE SPIDERS FOR A CUTE HALLOWEEN TREAT
I’d seen these Oreo Cookie with Pretzel stick legs floating around on Pinterest for years and thought what a cute idea! Plus, any recipe with less than 3 ingredients is a winner in my book.
Not that I can even call this cute Halloween Treat a recipe. But since I’ve teamed up with some blogger friends all sharing a Halloween “recipe” today I guess we’ll go with it! Thanks to Krista of The Happy Housie for hosting the Seasonal Simplicity Fall series and so graciously inviting me to join each season!
The concept of these spider cookies isn’t rocket science, but I will give you a few tips if you want to make a plate of Oreo Cookie Spiders for your littles!
OREO COOKIE SPIDER INGREDIENTS
- package of OREO’s [I used Double Stuffed and Carrot Cake OREOs]
- bag of Pretzel sticks
- cookie icing [black or white]
- candy eyes
OREO COOKIE SPIDER DIRECTIONS
1 // Take a pretzel stick and slightly press it into the side of the Oreo.
2 // Repeat by adding 3 more so there are 4 total on that side and then add 4 to the opposite side. There will be 8 “legs” total. It helps to hold the cookie with a firm grip to try to keep the pretzels from prying open the cookie and separating the two sides.
3 // Once you’ve made as many Oreo cookie spiders as you want, add two dots of cookie icing near the front edge between the two front legs on each side.
4 // Add candy eyes on each icing dot until all your spider cookies come to life!
5 // Serve with milk and let your little ones enjoy their spook-tacular Halloween snack!
