This is a good one you guys! I’ve been making this salad for years and it’s so incredibly easy, but looks fancy! Very few ingredients and the flavor is fabulous! This is my go-to when I’m asked to bring a salad somewhere, but also a family favorite and would make a yummy addition to your holiday meal. Today, I’m sharing an Easy Apple, Feta & Walnut Salad w/ Semi-homemade Dressing.
There really isn’t much to this salad, so it’s a great one when you don’t have a ton of time or just want to switch up the flavors in your typical dinner salad. I especially love this one in the Fall because of the apples and walnuts!
EASY APPLE, FETA & WALNUT SALAD WITH SEMI-HOMEMADE DRESSING
You can make a large salad bowl to serve a group or a smaller one for your family. I’ll share the main ingredients and what I do to get the right combination of toppings!
APPLE, FETA & WALNUT SALAD INGREDIENTS
- 1 Honeycrisp or Gala Apple [or any you have on hand will work]
- 1 – 4 or 6 oz. container of Feta cheese crumbles
- approximately 1 cup chopped walnuts [I use candied sometimes]
- 1 bag or container of Spinach leaves
- 1 bag or container of Arugula [I love the spicy bite it gives]
- 1 bag of Romaine or a mixed greens
- bottle of Poppyseed dressing
- bottle of Balsamic Vinaigrette
- salt & pepper
APPLE, FETA & WALNUT SALAD WITH SEMI-HOMEMADE DRESSING DIRECTIONS
1 // First, cut the apple into small pieces. I cut it into slices first and then cut small triangles from each apple slice.
2 // Rinse your greens [I use this to rinse, spin & dry, then transfer to a glass or ceramic serving bowl or just use the clear bowl from the spinner] & mix equal parts of your greens. I end up using around a half a bag of each type and mix until thoroughly combined in salad bowl.
3 // Add apple pieces, container of Feta crumbles [or less if you want] and cup of walnuts to the greens.
4 // Toss gently, leaving most of the ingredients on top of the greens.
5 // For the dressing, mix equal parts of Poppyseed and Balsamic Vinaigrette and shake to mix. I use this salad dressing shaker and it works perfectly. You can use the shaker to pour on salad or transfer to a cruet to serve from. See, I told you it’s semi–homemade with an emphasis on the “semi” ha!
6 // Add a dash of salt & pepper to the top of the salad and serve with dressing! You can also toss the dressing in the salad before serving. It’s totally up to you!
*Pro tip: If you have any apple slices leftover, add a few to each side of your bowl as garnish.
This salad is colorful and fresh with the perfect amount of crunch. The candied walnuts are great for an extra touch of sweetness. And if you want to add another flavor into the mix, a handful of dried cranberries would be delicious!
Let me know if you give this one a try. You can’t mess it up since there really isn’t much measuring involved! It will look gorgeous no matter how much or how little of any ingredient goes in.
When the hostess requests a salad, what’s your go-to?! I’d love to know!
