The Friday Five

Hello & happy Friday! I’ve missed this space so much over the last couple of weeks! Ever since our move in July, things have not slowed down. We started school a month ago, celebrated the biggest’s birthday, snuck away for a week-long trip to Lake Tahoe & Napa for a wedding and to celebrate our 10 year anniversary and now both big boys’ baseball & basketball seasons are in full-swing. Oh and I’m potty training right now, too! So today I wanted to pop in with a new Friday Five this week to catch you up on some happenings around here, new finds & more!

ONE // LAKE TAHOE + NAPA

Re-entry from vacation is always a challenge, but this trip was extra tough! We were already back to school and still living out of boxes in some rooms, so our time away was a treat! My parents stayed with the boys and off we went!

Tahoe & Napa were two of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited! My college bestie got married in Lake Tahoe on August 1st so we spent 4 nights there at the most beautiful Resort, Squaw Creek celebrating them and then headed out for a 3 night getaway to Napa to celebrate our 10 year anniversary.

We had never been to either place, so it was such an incredible trip exploring and enjoying two lovely cities.

I’ll share a trip recap / highlights post soon with where we stayed and what we did including all the restaurants, wineries and tasting rooms. It was a bucket list trip and I am beyond thankful we had the opportunity to make some memories.

TWO // HOUSE UPDATE

ICYMI – I finally shared our Empty Arizona House Tour this week. I shared snapshots of each room in our home before we moved all of our things in. I always love a blank slate and the opportunity awaiting me to make this house our own is giving me LIFE right now.

My creative energy is surging and I’m ready to have some fun!

We had painters here this week working on our entryway, living room, dining room, family room, kitchen, guestroom and master bedroom. So it already looks different than in the tour photos!

What a difference! We went with SW Gossamer Veil [a new color in my home, but my aunt recently used it in hers and I had some some client spaces painted with it] throughout and I couldn’t be happier with how light and fresh it feels. The spaces seem more open and airy and I can’t wait to start designing them. We have furniture on order for several rooms and just put together some new patio furniture last night so I’ll be sharing bits soon!

THREE // HOME ORGANIZING: SMALL CHANGE = BIG WIN

We did an obscene amount of purging before we moved, ridding our home of anything broken, missing parts, old, worn, etc. One area in particular we tossed a ton from was our kitchen cupboards and drawers. Goodbye containers without lids! Anyone else hate when you go to store leftovers and you can’t find the lid for the container you just grabbed?! I wanted a fresh start in this department so I ordered this set and this set and am obsessed.

My mom has them, so when we stayed at my parents for a month this winter and then right before we moved in, I used them daily and knew I wanted them for our home.

Such a gamechanger! They are clear, stackable containers with leak-proof lids. You press down on the center of the lid before you clamp the sides to remove all the excess air and then you pop them in the refrigerator.

PLUS, these containers are dishwasher & microwave safe which is a huge win. Love how organized my drawers and fridge look now!

FOUR // 5 THINGS I’M EXCITED TO WEAR THIS FALL

Don’t get my wrong, it is still very hot in Arizona right now, but a girl can dream of Fall, can’t she?! Here are some of the things I’m looking forward to wearing when the temps cool down:

  • PLAID SHIRTS – I got this one in the #nsale and I’m eyeing this one and this cute plaid on clearance for $17!
  • BOOTIESthese are new in my closet and can’t wait to wear them!
  • SHACKETS – I got this one last year, but how CUTE is this corduroy one?! Reminds me of a Free people dupe!
  • JOGGERS – you’ve seen these, but looking forward to date night to pair them with heels
  • CARDIGANS – way too many in my closet to pick a favorite, but this one was a favorite last year I did just order this one that I’ll share with you soon. Isn’t the ruffle detail darling?! I love the look of a buttoned up cardigan worn as a sweater! This one is also in my cart right now. I haven’t seen this version yet until now!

More style posts are on their way to you soon! I’ve missed doing try-on hauls for you. I’ve got some Amazon finds to share, but where else do you want to see Fall items from? I’ll probably do a poll to see what retailer to share in September, so start thinking of some ideas and be sure to weigh in on Instagram stories when I post it!

FIVE // WEEKNIGHT RECIPE

Easy weeknight recipes are a must with our busy schedule and 3 growing boys. Spaghetti [highly requested] and tacos are always in the rotation, but another super easy one I love to make, but haven’t in awhile are these Sloppy Joes. The boys devour them and they’re a cinch to make, serve and then store for leftovers. Grab any buns [even yummy little King’s Hawaiian rolls] and serve them up!

I substitute ground turkey for the ground beef and it seems I usually pair sweet potato fries and steamed broccoli with the sloppy joes when I make them.

This recipe is great for larger crowds too, because you can double or triple the recipe to feed the masses! I love a unique, interesting dinner idea, but sometimes you just gotta stick with a classic.

And that’s it for this week! I am doing my best to get back to a regular posting schedule, but its been challenging! So thank you for sticking with me as I find my groove after our move! Have the best weekend 😉
