The Friday Five

classic blazer with jeans and sneakers - This is our Bliss

Hi, hi friends! TGIF! Its been almost a month since we’ve chatted on a Friday and I’m so happy to be back today! We had an out-of-town wedding last month, family visiting, T’s birthday and 2 weeks off of school for Fall Break! The boys just went back this past Tuesday, so we are finally back in the swing of things in our normal nutty routine! Full-on sports mode right now, too! But I’m here today with The Friday Five.

If you’ve missed any past posts in the Friday Five series you can get caught up here.

THE FRIDAY FIVE

ONE // A CLASSIC BLAZER, BUT MAKE IT CASUAL

I love the look of a classic blazer and I especially love how versatile it is. I wore blazers and suit jackets when I used to work in an office, but now love pairing a blazer with jeans and sneakers. You get the classic look of a blazer but the dressed down style makes your outfit relaxed and casual, but elevated.

You can’t NOT look put together when you’re wearing a blazer!

Going out? just swap the sneakers for heels or booties. A blazer can be worn day to night!

If you want to recreate this look, here are several plaid blazer options:

TWO // LAZY MOM HALLOWEEN DECOR

I’ve never been a big Halloween girl. I was always lukewarm about getting decked out in costumes as I got older and quite frankly I don’t do a ton of Halloween decorating around the house! We carve pumpkins and eat Halloween candy, but aside from a couple of Halloween DIY’s and a girls’ night I put together, that’s where it stopped!

skeleton decor in the built-ins - Halloween idea - This is our Bliss

This year the boys were begging for some spooky stuff. I never hopped on the adhesive bat wagon but thought a few cheap skeletons might do the trick. I found these cute 20″ movable joint skeletons that can be hung or propped up and bought a few.

I stuck a couple in the built-ins and the 3rd is wrapped around the light fixture in the kitchen.

Based on their reaction, you’d think I spent hours decking the house out. Nope. just 3 of these skeletons for about $4 a piece worked like a charm.

I also ordered this 12′ inflatable ghost with LED lights for the front yard and they are going to freak when we set it up to surprise them! Hopefully tonight!

It was on sale for $37 and is still showing stock available!! In case you want to throw one up at the last minute like me!

THREE // WOW YOUR WALLS WITH WALLPAPER

Did you catch my One Room Challenge update yesterday? I shared a sneak peek of the wallpaper accent wall we finished last weekend. I can’t tell you what a game-changer an accent wall is. This removable wallpaper went up flawlessly and truly transformed our bedroom. It has total dark and moody vibes now and I can’t get over how much I LOVE the paper I chose. It is the Black Linen Grasscloth with subtle metallic silver stripes.

A single roll is only $43 which is a great price!

If you’ve ever thought about trying wallpaper in a room in your home, I highly recommend this peel-and-stick product. It is pretty much foolproof. If you make a mistake, you just peel it back and reapply!

Try it on a small wall first, like maybe in your Powder Room [like I did on the ceiling here] or bathroom. If you’re like me, once you add wallpaper somewhere you’ll want it everywhere!

FOUR // IF I WAS A SNEAKER, I’D BE THIS ONE

Oh my gosh, this Nike Air Max 90’s Futura in the Phantom/Hemp/Sanddrift/Black option are SO good! If I created the perfect sneaker with the most perfect neutral color combo, it would be this one. They are restocked in most sizes, so if you missed out when I shared this Summer and again this week, go now!

I originally ordered a 7.5 and an 8.5 because that’s all that was available at that moment, but they were too small and too big! I had my fingers crossed, but no luck. I just found a size 8 in stock a couple of days ago and they should be here this weekend!

FIVE // EASY WEEKNIGHT DINNER IDEA FOR THE KIDS

I saw someone make a no-boil pasta bake on Instagram and decided to try it out. I first did a Fettucine Alfredo bake with rotini noodles. The best part about this meal idea is that you just dump everything in your baking dish, cover it with foil and pop it in the oven! I boiled chicken breasts and shredded them and added tem to the dish the uncooked noodles, chicken stock, alfredo sauce, cheese and seasoning.

It was such a huge hit! Every since, I’ve been trying a new one each week. Most recently, this Pepperoni Pizza pasta bake has been in the rotation! I like this one because you don’t have to cook any meat in advance, just plop the pepperoni on top!
