9+ Amazon Finds That Got My Kids Through Summer: the details

chore chart // we have a paper chart that I laminated a couple years ago so we could use dry erase makers. I love this one because it is magnetic and comes with dry erase markers.

Adding a few chores for each child really helps give them a sense of purpose each day. Even if its just make your bed, brush your teeth and tidy your room. My boys help fold their laundry and unload the dishwasher each day, byt you can add any tasks that work for your family!

washable window markers // all three of my boys [ages 11, 9 & 5] enjoyed using these! I let them go to town on the back windows in the kitchen out to the patio.

We left their drawings up for several days because they were so cute!

reusable water balloons // these are a lifesaver! All three of them loved using these in the pool and in the yard, and it saved everyone from having to pick up the little pieces of water Balloons scattered everywhere!

Boredom Box // again, another item, all three boys picked up time & time again! My middle boy received this as a gift for his ninth birthday in May.

So many times, when they were looking for something to do, I said, “go grab the boredom box!” and the three of them would go play some old-school games. We joined in as a Family several times as well.

Snakes and ladders was our favorite!!

Bubble blower // OK, this one is so cool! My youngest got this for his fifth birthday in June and would go out in the backyard and shoot bubbles by himself constantly! I did just notice that the 2 other colors available are 1/3 of the price as the one we have! The pink one is only nine dollars!

Sumo balls // this was another birthday gift, and the boys loved using these inflatable sumo balls in the basement, and they recently ended up in the pool. Super fun!

light up beach balls // we bought these in the spring and the boys use them in the pool, but they are fun to bop around in the dark even out of the water!

bunch o balloon slingshot // OK, I know I just slammed on the bunch’o’balloons, but if you do have some, this slingshot heightens the fun for sure!!

Travel activity pad // I put this travel activity pad in the boys, his Easter baskets this year, and they were perfect for our trip back to the Midwest this summer.

Each had them in their backpack and it gave them something to do on the plane and in the car. They have tons of other activity books if you click on this link and search around related items.

This is sort of random, but Ted bought this workout cube several months ago and since it is so hot here in the Summer, the boys have used it quite a bit too. It doesn’t take up much space and it offeres a variety of simple exercises without the need for a ton of equipment.

OTHER THINGS WE DID TO GET US THROUGH THE SUMMER:

  • pool – we have one in our backyard, but sometimes just switching it up and going to a friend’s pool or the local one is a nice change of scenery!
  • waterpark
  • local library – we get books, but I heard some libraries offer Nintendo switch games, etc. which is so much better than spending the $50 on an itty bitty game card. We need to look into this for future reference!
  • bowling/arcade – Wednesdays are half-price game cards at one of ours, so look into the days they offer deals for the family
  • indoor trampoline park
  • city rec center – we use one of the nearby facilities to go to open-gym to play basketball
