Safari-style Soiree Source List + 2 FREE Party Printables!
Posted on June 11, 2015
Throwing a birthday party for your little one?! Simon’s Safari-style Soiree was so fun to put together – a total mix of DIY projects + purchased décor. Check out the sources below for everything you saw in the original Safari-style soiree birthday party post.
[DIY invite using picmonkey – tutorial coming soon] In this post you’ll find all the sources for all of the safari-style soiree themed birthday party decorations, the printables I made and the tutorials for the DIY decor.
[black & white striped bowl (Ross) held “pretzel twigs” | wooden logs bowl (Ross) held Cheetos as “Tiger Tails” | wooden serving bowl held veggie straws “Jungle vines” | wood server | white ruffle bowl held fruit “Monkey munchies” | DIY striped runner (using this fabric) | jungle stems (can also find similar stems at Michaels & Hobby Lobby – I even used these faux exotic stems in my guestroom!) ]
chipboard crown (Michaels) | gold foam stickers (Target $1 spot) | chalk letter stickers | animal print ribbon (michaels) | twine
It was taped underneath his highchair tray to hold it in place.
PHOTO ART
foam-core board, animal print wrapping paper & 12 month photos printed at Costco.
The zebra print poster was an enlarged 16″x20″ image created in picmonkey, similar to the invite! I hung them with the same twine (that I always use!) and more clear command hooks.
These place card holders were seriously the best find ever. Mine were purchased (set of 6 in blue) for Henry’s 1st birthday party on clearance for a few dollars at Michaels and are unfortunately no longer available. I have used them so many times! They can be painted over and over again to fit your party’s theme. Besides, $9.99 for a dozen in silver is a great buy – mine are plastic!
COOKIES
frosted sugar cookies by A Sweet Touch by Sara T. Animal crackers were also served as “party animals”!
And for the mother of all DIY projects, my dear dad painted this incredible canvas banner for us to hang as party décor, too. I just love it!
You can see more of his artwork in his etsy shop. Check it out!

Embroidered “1” animal print tie with mini crown by the fabulous Embroider Moore!
I actually baked his little “smash cake” using this set of mini baking pans, white cake mix & 2 cans of green icing – spread a little frosting between the layers and then went after it with swirls (or whatever you would call my technique 🙂 ) all over – thaaat’s it!
And there you have it – all of the details for my little blue-eyed babe’s Safari style soiree! I tried to gather everything I bought / previously had / made & include it in this post, but if there is something I missed and you want more information, please leave a comment below!
