Today has been a GREAT day! I am still giddy about the temperature reaching 55 degrees. Henry and I went out this morning to a Preschool tumbling open gym and then ran some errands. I wanted to be out of the house as long as possible until having to return home for lunch and naptime. It would have been nice to go for a walk or play at the park, but it was pretty messy out with the melting ice & snow, creating more mud and puddles than I cared to deal with on a Monday morning! I started sewing the curtains for the nursery this afternoon and completed 1 of the 3 panels. I should be able to post the curtain tutorial and photographs before the end of the week. After a quick sewing sesh, I FINALLY hung a great, brushed gold / mercury glass mirror {from HomeGoods} in our master bedroom that has been leaning against the wall for, I don’t know, maybe 6+ months 🙂 Below are a few pics I snapped of the mirror and several other gold, silver, pewter & bronze-colored pieces we have in our room. I am a big fan of mixing metals when it comes to accessories in a given space, but would say I have been drawn to more gold / brass colored pieces lately. I have a variety of finishes throughout the home and like blending the looks together.I think the new mirror balanced out the window and creates a nice corner space which is where my jewelry armoire sits. I always feel productive after busting out the hammer and nails, even if I only hang something as small as a 4″x6″ picture frame!
Before
After – such a difference! You can see my DIY bench peeking out of the left corner. I’ll post the tutorial on this at a later date.
Here is a glimpse of my bedside table: bronze vase, gold mirror, pewter frame and light gold brushed metallic lamp & an assorted metal finishes mirror hanging above our headboard. (All, but the vase, were HomeGoods finds over the last year or so.)
I hope everyone had a happy Monday and wherever you live, I can only pray that you are starting to see signs of Spring like we did here in Chicagoland today. Stay away, Chiberia. Stay away.
