This week has been BUSY with projects – inside & outside. I am tackling inside the house and a painting project in the garage, while Ted is chipping away at his 599+ item honey-do list 🙂 Today, he’s been power washing the garage, deck and patio and finishing planting flowers from last weekend, as well as getting some baby gear out of storage and set-up (Infant car seat, pack’n’play, swing, etc. He has been such a trooper!
I mentioned awhile back in my “Other Rooms I’m Tackling” post, we turned one of our guest rooms into the nursery and moved the bed into our loft space which was, & is kind of still, functioning as a playroom/storage room/craft room/office. Why not stick a bed in there and make it a guest room too?! I worked on getting the dresser from the old guest room painted this past week and am finishing up the nightstand today. The dresser & nightstand have been with me since college and were inexpensive IKEA pieces. I was never a fan of the light birch color & finish, so I decided a quick makeover would do the trick. Here is where the dresser has been and where it is headed. I will post full completion photos when it is well, finished!

I am going to add brass drop ring pulls to the dresser to jazz it up a bit. As for the nightstand, I want to do something funky to it, but haven’t quite decided just what that special touch will be yet. I at least wanted to get the painting done before the baby comes. I don’t know how often I will be able to sneak away for painting projects during naptime anymore. Who knows if there will be a working schedule at all! I am hoping at some point, the boys will nap at the same time, but that could be a ways out. In other news, I worked on nursery closet clothing labels this week and will post those pics soon!
Have you given any old pieces of furniture a new look with some fresh paint? I would love to hear about your projects! I think it is such a simple & inexpensive way to transform the whole look of a room.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend… bye for now!
