Hello there! I know it’s been a little while since I have shared any projects or posts, but I have been running around crazy enjoying time with my little guys. Thankfully, they both seem to nap for a couple of hours at the same time in the afternoon and I have found myself napping too 🙂 and if I’m not napping, instead of doing projects, I am dreaming up new ones! It is a constant struggle, I tell you. I can’t seem to shut my brain off when it comes to decorating, designing or updating the house. My taste in décor has changed a bit since moving in 2 years ago, so instead of running out to buy all new things (well, I am buying some new things), I am trying to come up with diy projects or ways to repurpose what I already own. Some people like to call it “shopping your house“. This is when you put things in new arrangements, move them to different rooms, give something a new look with fresh paint or even pull something old out of storage.
One room I am working to update is our main floor powder room. It is a fairly small 1/2 bath and is currently light green in color. We had the whole house painted when we moved in and since I was afraid of color, I chose to paint 2 of the 3 bathrooms in a color other than gray or beige. I am going dark this time, like dark charcoal gray. The color I have selected almost has a smoky navy blue hue to it. I love it and hope it looks as good on the walls as it does in my head! I designed a mood board to help with the design & finishings to accomplish the look I am going for. I want it to be a tad rustic with stained wood shelving (a future diy project, I hope) to go along with a small wooden cabinet I have in there for toilet paper storage and a bit glitzy with white & gold (& a little silver) touches throughout. There is a white pedestal sink & white toilet, along with the newly painted white trim which will really pop off of the dark background. I am going to add additional white pieces to keep it light and some gold because I can’t help myself. There will probably also be a small gallery wall. Again, because I can’t help myself!
Above you will see: a few inspirational powder rooms, wood shelving, gold hardware, towels and then some funky typography wall art & metal wall pieces to add visual texture, depth & interest. I hope to get working on our powder room soon, seeing as how my sample paint has been on the wall, along with painter’s tape around the room for a couple of weeks now. Oh well. Just add this space to the list. This was my first time creating a mood board on Polyvore & I can’t wait to make more!
Thanks for reading and please do stop by again. Lots of projects underway, so posts will be a bit scattered, but I know you understand 🙂 Oh! and I promise to write & publish the final post on our “outdoor oasis” soonish. [update, see it here!] I ordered the last of the decorative “stuff” to put out there and will work on getting everything out & photographed once it all arrives.
Have a great day!
