My posts have been stretched rather far apart lately. I have come up with great post ideas, but have used my free time to work on projects instead of taking & editing photos and writing about them. I will get caught up eventually. I promise! I hope you’ll stick with me 🙂 Sitting down to write tonight actually feels awesome. The kids are sleeping and it is….well, very quiet. I like that.
I’ve mentioned before, I have multiple projects underway and new ones are popping up out of nowhere. Like our main floor powder room / 1/2 bath. We didn’t exactly need to do anything with it. It was fine the way it was, but I started to get an itch to do something to it. Anything to it. It was just sort of blah in my book. The whole house was painted when we moved in 2 years ago and we went with a pale shade of green in this little bathroom. After it was painted, I used old décor from different rooms of our last house, but purchased a small wooden cabinet to hold extra toilet paper rolls, etc. and bought a new mirror since the bathroom did not have one in it. A few months ago, I started to get tired of the art on the walls, the rug, the old candles, etc., so thought I would just pop some new things on the wall and call it a day. Well, Pinterest got the best of me and I decided I wanted a whole new look and we would start with fresh paint. The paint looks great even though I was super nervous going with such a dark shade. Totally out of my comfort zone and it even has a blue tint to it which was even riskier in my book. I have to thank my husband for putting up with my wild hair to redo the room and for painting with me! Painting was just the beginning and now am finding myself totally enthralled with spiffing it up all the way around. Funny how that should happen. I shared my inspiration board a couple of weeks ago and after painting last weekend and hunting for new things to put on the walls, shelves & floor this week, I really feel like I am making some headway in creating a similar look. I scored a few great finds I am still waiting on, so will be able to show them when I have the room completed and share the reveal post with you all.
For now, here is what we’re workin’ with over here…
Paint samples that sat on the walls for a month are no longer there! We went with the color on the far right.
Loving the contrast of the paint against the gold mirror and newly updated white door and trim.
And here is another shot of the entire mirror. My trusty can of gold spray paint does it again.
Below is one of my treasures I picked up this week @ HomeGoods. I love, love, love how well it works with the paint color. The pattern is pretty awesome, too.
In case you were wondering, here is what I plan to accomplish before the room is done-zo:
Paint wallsPaint mirror- Find art
- Find some sort of metal wall art
- White & gold frames
- Shelf décor
- flowers for vases
Paint shelf brackets- Stain shelves or use old ones?
- Hang shelves
Paint light fixtureHang lightNew rug- misc. DIY project__________
- misc. DIY project__________
As you can see, the mirror received a makeover and I am possibly going to save the old shelves and reuse them as well. Other than this lil’ project o’mine, I have a special little someone’s 2nd birthday bash to finish planning & decorating for. My sweet boy is going to be 2 in less than 1 week. AHHHH! G’night 🙂
