New Year, New Room Refresh Challenge | Master Bedroom: The Reveal Part II

master bedroom refresh reveal bedroom decor & sources this is our bliss www.thisisourbliss.com

If you haven’t heard me say it before, then listen up! These curtains were a GAME CHANGER in our master bedroom!! I revealed Part I of our master bedroom refresh for the New Year, New Room Challenge, and today I’m finally sharing Part II! There is a tiny ounce of me that wishes I wouldn’t have shared anything until the curtains were up – it was THAT much of a transformation, but I was still so excited about where the room had gone.

From that…

And don’t leave before you scroll to the bottom for the entire room’s source list. I’ve detailed absolutely everything I could find for you and if something is no longer available, I even sourced similar pieces. I so love everything that went into this space – some things were old and others were new, like all of the decor items from our brand collaborators – Rugs USA, Minted, Framebridge & Lampsplus.

And now for our our newly refreshed sleeping quarters…
New year new room master bedroom refresh challenge - pattern play bedroom leopard pillow with black and white accents nightstand styling This is our Bliss www.thisisourbliss.comThere are hints of pink throughout the room and T is completely on-board with it – yesss! I didn’t even know I liked pink much, but a feminine touch in the bedroom totally works. It’s not overly girly and its not a main space in the home, so I say why not?!!

See here for my must-have elements of a well-styled nightstand.
new year, new room refresh challenge - Master bedroom refresh - gold decor - how to style a nightstand - bedside table accessories - This is our Bliss - www.thisisourbliss.comI love a good stack of books as styling elements – like here on my coffee table or even on our mantel. They add height and oftentimes, pretty patterns or colors.

Working our way around the room, to the wall on the left side, or I guess it would be considered the right side if you are actually in the bed!

It has 2 bulbs – one in the normal bulb base under the shade and the other is down below and comes with an Edison bulb for an exposed “nightlight” look. Love.

And now for the inspiration that started it all…

It is bright, bold and funky and was the perfect splash of color for the room.

It led me to pull the pink, light blue and yellows from the print, but allowed me to use my black, white, gold and gray along with it. Would it really matter if the print didn’t have those neutrals in it anways though? nope. probably not. #blackwhiteandgoldalways

I’m pretty sure that I’ll end up posting about this gallery wall so I can share more details on how it came to be and even how I tinted the top left photo pink.

new year, new room refresh challenge - Master bedroom refresh - gold decor - TV gallery wall - This is our Bliss - www.thisisourbliss.comThe TV gallery wall sort of transitions right over to the “pink chair corner”. I put these adorable “HIS” & “HERS” prints up over our closet doorway…

and it sort of connects the 2 spaces. At first, I was nervous that the wall had too much going on, but then I remembered…I tend to lean more towards the “more is more” decorating philosophy, so I kept it all up there. And I love it.

New year new room master bedroom refresh - gallery wall with floating picture ledge shelves - This is our Bliss www.thisisourbliss.comI decided to hang my little framebridge instagram mini by itself…
new year, new room refresh challenge - Master bedroom refresh - gold decor - Framebridge instagram mini - This is our Bliss - www.thisisourbliss.com and then hang 2 floating black picture ledges right next to it. I framed a few photos – a black and white photo of the year “2011” written in the sand from the beach in St. Lucia from our honeymoon, then on the bottom layered a black and white geometric print behind another black and white photo of the boys walking down a bike path holding hands and then added a few gold accents. Easy shelf styling.

It quickly became the cutest little nook in the room.

And did I mention the curtains?

oh, I just adore them.

I created a mini gallery wall in the corner here… I guess I could refer to it as a corner gallery wall. I’m not quite sure on the technical terminology, so I’ll go with it – corner gallery, it is!

New year new room master bedroom refresh challenge - black and white curtains with corner gallery wall with black, white and gold frames This is our Bliss www.thisisourbliss.comThe black and gold frames were in my “vault” and I sandwiched a white framed geometric print between them. Right next door is an white IKEA frame with a picture of one of the centerpieces from our wedding reception and then a small gold sunburst mirror on top. I’m a firm believer that you can pretty much frame any black and white photo and it looks like a piece of art. Plus, its extra special since its a photograph from a special moment.

Which then pretty much brings us back to where we started…with the bed and nightstands.

I’ll probably keep going back and forth orrrr continue to create new award-winning combinations with all the throw pillows I hoard buy.
New year new room master bedroom refresh challenge - pattern play bedroom leopard pillow with black and white accents & sunburst mirror This is our Bliss www.thisisourbliss.comA little leopard never hurt anyone. It actually never goes out of style and I’ll stick to that forever.

And I’ve completely fallen head-over-heels with the new mirror.

It’s definitely oversized and it barely fit, but I decided it was ok to nearly touch the top of the headboard. The variation in the metal is neat, too… it’s almost ombre in its coloring – bronze, then gold and then dark tips.

Did I get it all? Did I miss anything? I’m pretty sure I’ve covered every inch of our new space and photographed it 19 times.

The bedroom is in tip-top shape now and I love that its done. I can’t emphasize enough – if you want to spruce up a space in your home, sure, you can go ahead and take on one of your main living spaces, but you won’t regret the master bedroom. I can almost guarantee you that!!

I know it’s been nearly a month since the New Year, New Room Refresh Challenge, so if you need a “refresher” on my previous posts, have a look below! Then you’ll find the sources just under that!

Hi Rachel, really beautiful job on this room. I always shy away from anything graphic and this goes to show how impactful it can be on a room. I hope you and your hubby are enjoying every minute in your new retreat!
