You know what they say…
“Time flies when you’re having fun!”
Welp, I almost completely missed the blog’s 2 year mark – blog birthday… bloggiversary…whatever you want to call it! This little ol’ blog was born in March of 2014, but it ALMOST came to life exactly one year prior. I’d been reading other home decor & DIY blogs for several years by then and was completely and utterly infatuated with Pinterest, so one day I thought…
Why not?
So, I purchased the domain, www.thisisourbliss.com and then crickets. Not a word…not a peep…not even a single phrase or letter was typed into a post.
One year later, when WordPress emailed me to congratulate me on my 1 year blog anniversary, I thought…
Well, I guess it’s time to start that blog.
…Whiiiiiccch happened to be when I was 7 months pregnant with our 2nd little guy. I had nursery ideas filling my head at night and was busy crafting them up during the day. I was sewing, gluing, thrifting, sourcing, painting and buying. Eventually, I started to take photos – the infamous “before” photos and then tried to get good / remember to snap a few more throughout the process and pretty soon, I sat down and put my projects in writing. Tutorials were created, photos were [sort of ;)] edited and then I did it.
I hit that publish button!
After the nursery was “revealed” [I couldn’t wait to use that term], I wasn’t quite sure what to do with myself, but I kept chugging along when I could squeeze in the time.
And here we are today! Still trying to find a few minutes here and there to get my projects done. Naptime is my most productive time of the day for blog stuff because there really isn’t a better time. Our 2 little guys keep me on my toes all. day. long. literally. And at night, I’d rather spend time with T and lounge and watch shows than be holed up somewhere working on a project or nose down in the computer. Long story short, I still dedicate time working on the blog because I really love what it is becoming and what it has done for me. Its introduced me to new friends, who I lean on for support and who undoubtedly provide endless amounts of inspiration and guidance. We teach each other tips and tricks and learn from each other’s mistakes. Not only has the blog provided me an internet social circle ha, but it most certainly has provided me with a creative outlet and something to call my own. And as a stay-at-home mom, I SO need that! All of it!
Thanks for listening to a bit of my back story, but now let’s get to the goods!
Today marks the start of a week-long giveaway in collaboration with Minted to offer you in celebration of This is our Bliss’s 2nd birthday. Woo hoo! To thank you, my wonderfully awesome readers, one lucky winner will receive a FREE framed 8″x10″ Minted art print of their choice – hooray for that!! I know I’ve had my eyes on more than one of their beautifully unique prints and can’t wait to work on another gallery wall in hopes to incorporate more minted masterpieces!

March 28, 2016 at 2:09 PMHappy blogiversary! I just had my one year and forgot about that until about two weeks later, so you’re not alone! I love all these prints, but especially Composition 4! I could definitely see it on the gallery wall in my bathroom, which is the one feminine space (pink walls, bar cart, lots of metallics) in my home. Love the vibrant colors!

March 28, 2016 at 1:24 PMEither 3 or 5, I love the beauty and simplicity of the Grecian Floral but 5 has some pizzazz and is just such a fun pop of color! Likely in my dining room, both would look great with the colors in there!
