Phwew! You’d think it was December over here with all of these posts this week! Today, I’m wrapping up the 4 Days of Festive & Frugal 4th of July Ideas and rounding out the week with this month’s My Dollar Store DIY project! I’ve got a fun and simple way to add some pizzazz to your wine glass for the weekend’s Fourth of July festivities! Today I’m sharing how to make this Red, White and Blue Confetti Star Wine Glass in just a few minutes with Dollar store supplies
Come check it out!
RED, WHITE AND BLUE CONFETTI STAR WINE GLASS SUPPLIES
[All materials were purchased from Dollar Tree and I’ve included the affiliate links below. Since many of their items have to be purchased in bulk, Amazon is another great source for DIY materials!]
- Wine Glass
- Red, white and blue Nail Polish
- Red white and blue Tinsel garland
- Star cookie cutter [comes in a multi-shape 4-pack]
- Q-tips
- sheet of paper, pencil & scissors
RED, WHITE AND BLUE CONFETTI STAR WINE GLASS DIRECTIONS
First, set the star cookie cutter out on your piece of paper and trace along the inside. Cut it out and tape it to the front of your wine glass, by rolling 3 or 4 pieces of tape into a roll and placing it on the back side. You want the edges of the star to be clear of tape, so don’t tape it alongside the outside edges.
Next, grab one of your bottles of nail polish…I started with blue, but I don’t think it really matters! Dip one of the q-tips inside the bottle and dot around the edge of the star keeping your dabs close together. Then work your way out by dabbing the glass making the dots more spaced out the further you go away from the edge of the star.
Wait 60 seconds to let the first color dry. Then, take your next color [I went with white] and repeat the process. You will want to make some of your dots, especially the ones right next to the edges of the star, right on top of the blue dots. Again, wait 60 seconds before starting with your final color or red if you’re me!
After applying all three colors starting out really close together and then gradually space the dots apart.
Your red white and blue confetti star wine glass will start to look something like this.
I ended up going back through with the white so you could see a few more of those ones.
Lastly, take the tinsel twine and snip a 5-6 inch piece off the end and tie it around the stem of your wine glass.
There you have it! A super festive red white and blue confetti star wine glass. The perfect 4th of July party accessory!
I did make 2 of these, but if you’re hosting you could totally get away with only making one as the “House Cup” or make several for a small gathering.
I think this would be a fun thing to make ahead of time if you’re hosting a girl’s night or save the DIY until your guests arrive and have each person make their own! You could use any colors and any shape to put your “confetti” around. Instead of tinsel, use some cute ribbon to tie around the stem! Wouldn’t this make a great birthday or hostess gift idea, too?!
After sipping your summer wine or cocktail, be sure to only hand wash the glasses or gently use a bottle brush.
