[My Dollar Store DIY] Christmas Bell Napkin Rings

We’re back! A day later than usual, but back nonetheless! The My Dollar Store DIY crew is here sharing our final projects of the year and we’ve themed them all around — yes, the holidays! It is December 1st after all, isn’t it? Maybe you were holding out until after Thanksgiving or maybe until today to start prepping for the upcoming holidays, but whether you’re ready or not, they are on their way! One thing I know for sure is holiday hosting and toasting is in full swing this time of year. In order to get my holiday table one step closer to being guest-ready, I decided to make these DIY Christmas Bell Napkin Rings.

And you want to know what’s even better than the fact I grabbed my supplies at Dollar Tree? I used the same technique as my Colorful Pom-pom Napkin Rings from earlier this year. No need to re-think or re-invent the idea! 

In case you forgot, here is what I did!

SUPPLIES

empty paper towel roll
4 bags of mini bells [2 gold & 2 silver]
1 bag of small bells [slightly larger ones]
hot glue gun & hot glue sticks

INSTRUCTIONS

Simply grab an empty paper towel roll and cut it into six pieces. Before, applying the hot glue and bells, I did take this DIY up a notch and quickly brushed on a coat of metallic gold craft paint with a foam brush. The pom-poms covered the paper towel roll in it’s entirety, but the bells don’t fit together quite as tightly. In an attempt to beautify the cardboard in case it peeked through, the gold would provide a better base.

After the paint dried, I applied a 1 inch section of hot glue and then added a mix of silver and gold bells. I was working with two different sizes of bells, so would add a slightly larger one every so often as I worked my way around the paper towel roll.

Voila! That’s it! 

The same steps were taken to make these Christmas Bell Napkin Rings as in the Pom-pom Napkin Ring tutorial. The only difference is that the bells are a bit heavier than the mini pom-poms, but since they mainly serve a decorative function on the table, I think they are sturdy enough to hold up through a few dinner parties! And if you only use them one time at Christmas, then I would say you’re in good shape, seeing as how they cost less than a dollar per ring to make!

You know how I feel about glitz and glam, so I just love how these little Christmas Bell napkin rings sparkle and shine on the table! Heck, you could skip the bells and go straight for the gold glitter. The possibilities are endless when using an empty paper towel roll. Anything would work!
