Hello and welcome!! If you are coming over from Designthusiasm, I am so happy to have you here! We officially opened our arms to properly welcome Summer in last week! As of last Friday, the 3 boys and I are in full-on Summer mode! This year, I kept our Summer decor SUPER simple and super neutral with a touch of pink. And all the pink is in the form of fresh flowers. I always have rich metallics and bold black and white pattern throughout the house, so by sprinkling small vases of pink flowers in each room, the house is as Summer-ready as it’s going to get! And bonus when the pink flowers are straight from the backyard! Today, I’m sharing a peek at our Neutral Summer Decor with a Touch of Pink as part of the Seasonal Simplicity Summer series!

Snip, snip and voila! Summer is in the house! With a 3rd little guy [almost] running around here this Summer, I knew *Summer decorating* was going to be in it’s simplest form this year. I love sharing home tours, but as you can imagine, it’s a lot of work! Today, you’ll see a clean house [or at least what’s directly in front of the camera!!] with not much other than hot pink peonies, light pink garden lace peonies and a few clippings of leafy green stems added to the spaces.
Come on in and have a look around!
NEUTRAL SUMMER DECOR WITH A TOUCH OF PINK IN THE ENTRYWAY & LIVING ROOM
I have to first start out by showing you our newly finished staircase! I didn’t know my black and white loving heart could be any happier with the final result! We said goodbye to the light oak staircase and said hello to fresh white spindles and black railing and posts. It helps unify each space with the light walls and black doors throughout. It is exactly what I had hoped it would be!
I switched up the bookcase styling on a couple shelves and added the hot pink peonies to a tortoise bowl for the coffee table. Several years ago, I picked up a set of 4 bowls and love using them in this way every now and then. I wasn’t able to find the exact bowl, but this is a gorgeous, inexpensive tortoise vase if you want a similar look!
The bookcases don’t get tweaked with as often as they used to. #threekids But I did add a few new pieces to the shelves by swapping out some things I was tired of. I also removed the covers on a couple of the books for a lighter, more neutral look.
PRO TIP: If you want to decorate with a specific color, books are an easy way to bring that color into a space. And if you buy them at the thrift store or your local Goodwill, you will probably get them for under $.25 each and you can buy a ton! If you like a title, peek under the dust jacket [removable cover] to see what’s underneath. You might find your “color” there!
The light pink pillows on the chairs are ones I keep in rotation in the Spring and Summer months when I want a very subtle touch of color. Light pink is the way to go if you want something with a hint of color, but doesn’t scream too loudly.
If you pass by quickly enough, the pillows almost look like white or cream!
NEUTRAL SUMMER DECOR WITH A TOUCH OF PINK IN THE KITCHEN
Our kitchen is one of the few places in our home that has a permanent pop of color in it! Yep! Our green kitchen island! We gave our kitchen a mini makeover last year and I still swoon over the rich Hunter Green color we chose to go on the island. You can read about our kitchen paint colors here and see the Kitchen Reveal Part 1 and Kitchen Reveal Part 2 here.
Doesn’t the pink pair so nicely with the green?!
This is how my kitchen would look in an ideal scenario – clear counters with a vase of fresh flowers on my gold tray on the center of the island! It really is the little things 🙂
I know it’s only Tuesday, but it is Summer after all 🙂 #roséseason
Moving on, you’ll see another vase of flowers [told you that was pretty much the extent of my Summer zhushing!] on the kitchen table and my recently styled [thrifted] console table that I shared last week. I was craving neutrals pretty hard when I set up that Summer vignette, so I didn’t add any pink to the scene after the fact. Not only did my pink rose bushes not bloom yet, but my white hydrangeas haven’t either!
It’s ok. I’m loving the splashes of pink right now 🙂
NEUTRAL SUMMER DECOR WITH A TOUCH OF PINK IN THE FAMILY ROOM
Our home has a pretty open layout, so since the kitchen and Family Room sit next to each other, it feels like one large space.
In the Family Room, I have the faintest of pink throws over the back of the chair and I changed up the mantel decor a tiny bit.
It’s tricky to decorate around a TV over a mantel. I can’t wait until I have a home someday where the TV is nowhere near it! My dream would be to have a fireplace and mantel in a sitting room or more formal space so I can have a massive mirror or piece of art hanging over it. For now, I just add a few small things to either side of the TV and maybe something long and narrow underneath to not block the view of the screen.
For Summer, I have a vase of faux and real greens [clipped from one of our trees], a small stack of books and that gold orb that keeps bouncing around this house! I still can’t get enough. It always adds the perfect amount of chic glam and bit of edge wherever I place it.
You can see a last year’s Summer Mantel in this post here. I went with a little color that year!
NEUTRAL SUMMER DECOR WITH A TOUCH OF PINK IN THE MASTER BEDROOM
This look totally reminds me of the Guestroom from my Summer Home Tour a couple Summers ago. Those hot pink peonies on the nightstand were such a pretty sight!
But here in our Master Bedroom they pop so much against all of the black and white. I decided to remove the colorful duvet cover and light pink faux Mongolian fur pillows from the bed that I added when I refreshed the bedroom at the start of Spring.
I told you, I was craving neutrals and since the house already lends itself pretty easily to that look, it was a cinch to do. Remove the little color that was there and I’m left with black, white and gold.
I grabbed another tortoise bowl from the kitchen and plopped a few more peonies from the backyard in it.
PRO TIP: No vase? Think outside the box! Bowls, ice buckets, candle holders, utensil holders and coffee mugs make great vases or planter pots.
As you you saw today, I got pretty good at doing that over and over around here!
And that wraps up my Neutral Summer Decor with a Touch of Pink! Thank you so much for having a look around. Before you go, be sure to take a few minutes to head over to My Sweet Savannah and have a look at her absolutely stunning home! It is beyond beautiful!! The rest of the Seasonal Simplicity Summer series lineup for the week is below as well.
Have a wonderful day, friends!!
Don’t forget to pin for later!

June 24, 2019 at 12:07 PM[…] My hydrangeas on the other hand, have a long way to go! Everything is taking so long to bloom this year because of all the rain and cold we had through May! My peonies and roses finally bloomed out back and I’ve been clipping a ton to bring in for vases around the house. You can see them all in my Neutral Summer Decor with a Touch of Pink Summer Home Tour. […]
