New neighbors just moved in down the street? Close friends just bought their first home or moved into their forever home? Putting together a simple housewarming basket is a wonderful way to welcome them into the neighborhood or wish them well in their new home. Some friends of ours recently bought a new house, and I wanted to do something special for them! Today, I’m sharing How to Put Together a Simple Housewarming Gift Basket [with the cutest greeting card to go along with it!]
AMERICAN GREETING CARDS AT JEWEL-OSCO
When I set out to put together this “enjoy your new home” gift basket, I knew I wanted to include a special card to go along with it. I was blown away with the beautiful American Greetings card selection at my local Jewel-Osco.
They have so many cards for everyday occasions! As well as the prettiest blank cards so you can write your own message inside. There is even a special place on the American Greetings website that gives ideas and inspiration for writing personal messages. So helpful when you can’t quite decide what to say!
When shopping for cards, I love to stock up on several cards at a time so I have them ready to go at home when I need them. There’s even a special going on right now where you save $3 on American Greeting cards when you purchase 2.
You can check it out on the Jewel-Osco Mobile App or visit in-store at your local Jewel-Osco retailer to take advantage of this offer.
It’s so nice to have a stockpile of cards at home that are ready to gift, especially if you need one at the last minute! In fact, I have a dedicated bin in my office that houses all of my greeting cards! They are such a simple and meaningful way to let someone know you are thinking of them.
I found the cutest card to include in my gift basket, perfect to give to new neighbors who just received a new set of keys! I love the simplicity of the card and its neutral color scheme. Plus, I can’t ever resist metallic silver and gold 😉
MY TIPS FOR HOW TO PUT TOGETHER A SIMPLE HOUSEWARMING GIFT BASKET
- Fill a basket they can get lots of use out of! A decorative basket that is multi-functional is a great choice. They can re-gift the basket to someone or maybe it’ll help them get organized around the house. A pretty basket can be used time and time again!
- Use a dish towel to line the basket before placing items inside. A cute dish towel not only looks great in the basket but they’ll actually be able to use it in their new home.
- Pick out a variety of items, including some of your favorite things. Gifting things you love is a way to share something personal about yourself, which is helpful if you are giving a simple housewarming gift basket to a new neighbor. It’s a chance to share a little bit about yourself and allow them to get to know you better.
If they are friends of yours, you can include items you already know they love! That way, they’re stocked up on their favorite things to enjoy!
In my housewarming gift basket, I included:
- a striped dish towel [came in a 3 pack from HomeGoods, so I kept 2 for myself]
- bottle of wine [a nice red blend]
- caramel corn
- a candle [a yummy seasonal favorite: pumpkin vanilla – this one, this one or this one!]
- jar of salsa
- “let’s stay home” mini decorative wooden block
All things they will be able to use and enjoy!
All I did to finish it off was tie a ribbon around the basket and stick my greeting card inside!
It only takes a little effort to put together a simple housewarming gift basket, but the special thought and kind gesture will be remembered for years to come.
What are your favorite things to give someone to congratulate them on their new home? Any go-to housewarming gift ideas?!
