Neutral & Modern Shared Boys’ Bathroom Mood Board & Plans

Shared Boys bathroom design board - This is our Bliss

It’s that time again! The holidays are in the rear view mirror, January has arrived and I’m preparing to dive into another project! The New Year, New Room Refresh Challenge kicks off today and I can hardly believe this is my 5th year participating. Crasy!! This year during our month-long challenge hosted by Stephanie of Casa Watkins Living, I’m going to be transforming the boys’ bathroom. Believe me, it needs a facelift and I couldn’t be more excited to share the Neutral & Modern Shared Boys’ Bathroom Mood Board and Plans with you today!

I mean, an entire room makeover during the month of January sounds [and is] intimidating, but each and every year it feels amazing to check a room off the list at the start of the year!

I’ve done it 4 January’s in a row now, so I guess I manage to pull it off somehow, but wow, am I nervous right now!

Each Tuesday, I’ll be sharing an update on the room with the final reveal coming at the end of the month!

In case you’ve missed any of the previous NYNR Refresh Challenges, you can check out each of them below:

Master Bedroom Refresh Modern & Bold Playroom Kitchen Revamp Playful & Pattern-happy Big Boy Room

All 5 bathrooms need to be updated in this house, but we’ve only scratched the surface so far. We gave the powder room a super light refresh for the $100 Challenge a couple years ago.

Then we updated the Basement Guest Bathroom for the Primp & Pamper Challenge in 2018.

The middle’s big boy room was last year’s New Year, New Room Refresh Challenge project and he actually has a bathroom inside his room that I hope to get my hands on later this year.

And as far as the Master Bathroom, well, I’m not sure when we’ll tackle that one. It will be awhile, but it is in need of some help, too!

So for now, the Shared Boys’ Bathroom it is. Let’s check out what’s going on in here, so you can see what I’m working with!

SHARED BOYS’ BATHROOM BEFORE

When I say this bathroom needs some love, I mean it needs some love!!

Holy yikes.

I realize it’s my boys’ bathroom and they are 7 and 1, but the finishes, the colors, the fixtures… are all wrong in here.

They are old, they are cheap and they just aren’t my style.

The faucets are corroded, the toilet is broken and you don’t need me to even mention what’s going on with the grout situation behind the toilet. But I know that all the boy mamas out there can relate!! aghhh!

This small bathroom is actually nestled in between the biggest’s room and the littlest’s nursery. It’s a Jack-and-Jill style bathroom with pocket doors.

Henry, our oldest, is getting to the point where he wants his own space. Bathing or showering in mom and dad’s bathroom is no longer appealing. And now, with Winston trotting around trying to keep up with his big brother’s, we’re working on a bedtime routine that involves him coming into the bathroom to brush his teeth.

And before long, we’ll be gearing up for potty training.

Next up is the design! Take a peek at my mood board to get a feel for the look I’m going for and then after that, you can see what my plans are for the space.

SHARED BOYS’ BATHROOM MOOD BOARD

Shared Boys bathroom design board - This is our Bliss

NATURAL STONE MOSAIC STAR TILE || GRAY OMBRE SHOWER CURTAIN || TOILET || SINK || VANITY || BLACK FAUCETS || BLACK & GOLD VANITY LIGHT || ROUND GOLD MIRROR || BAMBOO STEP STOOL || GREEN TASSELS || STAR TOWELS || WOVEN POM POM STORAGE || BLACK & GOLD FRAME || FAUX PLANT

I’m definitely aiming for a more sophisticated and polished look, similar to the Neutral Nursery.

I plan to add playful touches, but I’m going to keep the colors to a minimum. Maybe its that I can’t help dream of remodeling our Master bathroom, so I’m channeling my vision in here! 😉

It is a fast and furious challenge, but I’m up for it! We are hiring out most of the labor, so in addition to designing the space, I’ll also be scheduling and coordinating contractors over the course of the month. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that materials arrive in time, contractors show and everything stays on schedule.

There are always little hiccups along the way when you take on a project like this especially in less than a month’s time, but that’s what makes it a challenge. I sure hope you’ll follow along with me and my blogger friends each week!
