Mood Board Monday // A Chic, Relaxed Basement Guestroom

A Chic, Relaxed Basement Guestroom - Guest Bedroom Mood Board - This is our Bliss #bedroomdesign

It’s time for another Mood Board Monday! It’s been quite a while since I’ve shared any client spaces here on the blog, so I have lots to catch you up on! Over the course of the last 2 years, a client and family friend has entrusted me to refresh multiple spaces in both of her homes – one in Iowa and the other in Arizona. Today, I’m sharing the design plan for 1 of the 4 bedrooms I completed in her Iowa residence. Here is A Chic, Relaxed Basement Guestroom for Mood Board Monday!

Prior to moving to Arizona, I was working on both homes from afar, so it’s taken me some time to make my rounds to finish up. But I have been able to snap some photos of the finished spaces and am planning to share them in a new series called ‘Client Before & After‘. Since I wasn’t able to take you along for the ride and share updates throughout the process, I thought it would be fun to circle back to see how some of the Mood Boards came to life!

I’ll be tagging them in my Room Reveals category, so you can see all of my [and their] finished spaces in one place!

Stay tuned 😉

THE BASEMENT GUESTROOM PLAN

The plan was to remove all old furniture [with the exception of the bed], replace carpet, paint, add window treatments and create a cozy space for her son and his family to stay when they visit. I loved the idea of adding pops of olive green and warm wood tones for a hint of masculinity. Yet the light walls keep it bright and fresh. Minimal decorative accents keep it clean and simple, allowing the guests room for their luggage and other personal belongings.

My client requested a recliner for her daughter-in-law to use to rock the babies or catch up on sleep herself. The nights can be long with little ones especially when you’re away from home.

I can’t wait to show you the finished space! Many of the design ideas & items from this board actually made their way into a permanent place in the room.
