Oh, what a year last month was! March is definitely going down as a “memorable” one. Chalked full of more firsts than I ever thought I’d experience in this lifetime. Since we’re starting a fresh month, I thought I would do a March Rewind today to run through some of the last month’s highlights, best sellers, new finds, house projects and more!
MARCH REWIND
March was a different kind of March than any previous ones and while I thought I’d be recapping our Family Spring Break to Arizona to visit my parents including an adults only weekend in Palm Springs celebrating at a friend’s wedding, neither of those things happened. Like so many of us, trips were cancelled, plans were changed and we’ve been figuring out our new normal.
I almost didn’t write today’s post, but since I started the Monthly Rewind series last month, I wanted to stick with it. So instead of focusing on what I missed last month, I’m doing my best to remember there has been some good in all of this.
Here are some of the highlights of last month in the March Rewind…
ON THE BLOG
ICYMI – You can see all of my March blog posts here.
I shared my first beauty post and I plan to do more in the future!
You can see all of The Friday Five posts here and get April’s Free monthly printable here! A little entryway table got some Spring decor love for Free and another free Spring printable was offered here.
And if you’re running out of ideas for things to do to pass the time, check out 16 Things to Do While You’re Stuck at Home and The Best Shows to Binge Watch right now for some of my favorites!
TV is definitely helping to get us through…
So are Oreos, pizza and wine! 🙂
HOUSE PROJECTS
With all of our time at home recently, we’ve been focused on purging and organizing projects versus room makeovers and decorating. And truthfully I needed a breather after the Boys’ Bathroom Makeover from January!
So far we’ve hit the big boys’ room [bookcases, dressers & closets] and I’m hoping to get to the nursery this weekend.
His closet is in pretty good shape, but I’d like to pack up some too small clothes, books, etc. A simple decluttering sesh never hurts!!
T has been busy getting the garage in shape and he tackled a small painting project in there, too. We had teal steps & railing leading from the garage to the house and they’re now black!
We used our go-to DecoArt Satin Enamels paint in Classic Black.
Our basement is always a spot we try to pop in and clean out every couple of months since that’s where everything goes to die! The boys have 95% of their toys down there, so we try to fill up at least one trash bag to donate every so often. So far while social distancing, we’ve filled 2 with toys and another 2 of craft supplies and gift wrapping gear that I store downstairs also.
Every little bit helps. One of these days I’d love to fix up the family room area down there, so maybe that’s a project on the docket!
I’d love to at least hang some frames on the walls near the couch and TV.
If you’re looking to do the same, you can see all of my gallery wall idea posts here.
Maybe one will work for your space!
FAVORITE FINDS / ON REPEAT
I recently shared 15 Things I’m Currently Loving and with all the time at home, I’ve got a whole lot of new things on my wish list. #trouble
I’ll try to share more of these types of post in the coming weeks 😉 I’ve got one started for Home Decor Finds.
You can also check out my currently loving page that I update with finds as I spot them!
And from what I can tell, I’m not the only one living in loungewear.
This sweatshirt, this loungewear set [sweatshirt + joggers], this hooded fleece open cardigan and these slippers have been on repeat.
TOP SELLERS
The most popular items I shared in March are below! These are the ones you guys bought and loved the most.
What ones did you scoop up?
You can see all of the past monthly top sellers here.
RANDOM HAPPENINGS
I’ve shared tidbits throughout these last few weeks about what we’re doing at home. And it really isn’t any different than any of you if you have kids. That being said, I won’t drone on about how difficult it has been or how many meltdowns we’ve all had. Because believe me, we’ve had them.
We are just trying to get through the days while balancing virtual learning, parenting and working. T has been working from home since the 13th and I only work part-time on the blog, so I’ve held the role as teacher!
The only tips I have if you’re struggling right now trying to balance it all is to give yourself some grace, take breaks and love on your kids. They will remember the snuggles, baking brownies, PJ’s all day, making forts with their siblings and movies as a family more than they are going to remember their couple hours per day in the Dining Room “classroom”.
All I want for them to know and remember is that we are doing our best to keep them safe, healthy and happy. The rest is just that… the rest!
And as for mom & dad – we’ve done virtual happy hours with friends via Zoom and Houseparty, I’m reading more, walking more, we’re baking, we’re catching up on shows and just going at this whole thing day-by-day.
And I’m good with that!
This March Rewind definitely looks a bit different than February’s, but I’m embracing change during these crazy times!
I hope you and your families are doing well! And as for April, we’ve got this!!
