How to Create a Cozy Entryway in 5 Simple Steps

Entryway Refresh - cozy refresh in the entryway to welcome friends and family for the holidays - This is our Bliss copy

Greetings, friends! Today I’m sharing the details of our quick and cozy Entryway Refresh! I felt like the landing spot / drop zone at the front door needed some attention and it all started with the need for a new rug! A game of Dominos took place and within minutes, our Entryway had new life. Read on to see How to Create a Cozy Entryway in 5 Simple Steps. Even when a refresh isn’t planned!

Cozy Entryway Refresh in 5 Simple Steps - This is our Bliss

One of the main focal points of our entryway is the area rug at the front door. However, when it’s tattered and dingy it doesn’t exactly say “welcome” when your guests arrive! Our old rug needed to be replaced in a bad kind of way and my I’m so grateful that my friends at Mohawk Home came to the rescue! I was looking for a subtle pattern with great texture and a plush pile and this Arrow Waves rug checked all the boxes!

The rug looks beautiful and feels even better underneath your feet!

Anyone else ever get one new item and then before you know it, you’re on a mission to redo the entire room?!

Me. all. the. time!

AN UNPLANNED SIMPLE ENTRYWAY REFRESH!

Entryway Refresh - cozy refresh in the entryway to welcome friends and family for the holidays - This is our Bliss

One thing led to another and before I knew it, I had given our whole entryway a quick and cozy refresh just in time for the upcoming Holiday season.

I fought the urge to decorate for Christmas [although it won’t be long!] in this little nook, so instead opted for a few autumnal touches to enjoy throughout the month of November.

I still can’t get enough of these rich, warm colors I’ve so loved on my Fall Front Porch and our Fall Family Room Mantel this year, so thought the entryway deserved the same treatment to welcome in family and friends.

HOW TO CREATE A COZY ENTRYWAY IN 5 SIMPLE STEPS

1 // LAY DOWN A TEXTURED RUG

As I mentioned, not only is this rug gorgeous, but it looks and feels extremely soft. Its exactly the kind of rug you want underneath your feet at all times. I love the dimension in the pile and the subtle pattern created with the different pile heights throughout. It’s truly unique and oh so cozy!

I also recommend laying down a rug pad underneath for added comfort and protection.

Here are a few other Mohawk Home favorites I had my eye on:

2 // ADD CLIPPINGS TO A VASE

My fast and free tip is to always go outside with a pair of scissors when you need to fill a vase in a hurry. No time to run out for flowers when you have company coming? Add a few clippings to a vase on your kitchen island or entryway table. With the leaves changing right now, it was the perfect time to clip from the trees outside to bring in  some rich and warm colors!

Aren’t they pretty?!

3 // SWAP OUT YOUR FRAMES WITH SOME SEASONAL ART

One of the easiest ways to change up your décor is by switching out the images in your frames. Whether you get photos printed or you grab a seasonal digital art piece from Etsy, either way it gives your space a fresh and new look.

I’ll be offering this “grateful” piece next week, so be on the lookout!

4 // BRING IN A BASKET & FILL WITH A PILLOW & / OR THROW BLANKET

I always have these 2 baskets here on the bottom shelf of my table. Sometimes they sit empty and other times I’ll add something to one of them. This time, I stuck a furry white throw pillow at the back and then tucked plaid blanket in front.

The rug itself has great texture, but the baskets, pillow and blanket add even more for a cozy, layered look.

5 // LIGHT A CANDLE

There’s nothing better than the warm glow of candlelight and a yummy scent to welcome in your guests for the holidays. I can’t think of an easier way to add “cozy” than to light one! I love that this pumpkin candle is in a black jar, but also has black wax. It’s very unique and adds a bold touch of contrast to the space.
