Christmas morning always consists of 3 things – breakfast casserole, sticky rolls and mimosas! We typically drink coffee and open presents, but about mid-way through, we make our Christmas Morning Mimosas to sip on through the rest of opening and into brunch. It’s a slight twist on a traditional Mimosa and oh-so-tasty. They are absolutely gorgeous and so simple to make. Today, I’m sharing the recipe for our Christmas Morning Mimosas!
If you know how to make a mimosa, then you hardly need my recipe! But maybe you’ll like the idea of switching up your mimosa for Christmas!
Today, I’m joining Krista of The Happy Housie and 17 others who are also sharing their holiday drink recipes in today’s edition of the Seasonal Simplicity Christmas Series. Be sure to stick around until the end to get some festive ideas for your holiday menu!
CHRISTMAS MORNING MIMOSAS
These mimosas look like Christmas morning in a glass – gorgeous color, festive garnishes and they smell divine! And since this is our go-to drink on Christmas, I thought what better recipe than this to share!
INGREDIENTS FOR CHRISTMS MORNING MIMOSAS
- bottle of champagne
- cranberry juice [I use light or Diet]
- fresh cranberries [frozen]
- fresh Rosemary
DIRECTIONS FOR CHRISTMAS MORNING MIMOSAS
It’s like a classic mimosa, but with a twist!
1 // Fill your glass half [or 75%] full with the champagne of your choice. I like an Extra Dry or Brut, but Spumante or any other varieties are just as good!
2 // Pour in the cranberry juice until the glass is nearly full.
3 // Throw in 3-5 frozen cranberries to act as a garnish and to keep your drink cold!. They’ll float at the top which is so pretty! I usually buy a bag of fresh cranberries at Thanksgiving and stick them in the freezer to use as drink garnishes all season long. They’re great in Moscow mules or any other cocktail this time of year!
4 // Lastly, Take a 1/2 or whole Rosemary sprig and either place in the champagne flute or on top to serve. Your guests can put it in their glass if they like!
5 // Enjoy on Christmas morning!
We usually set-up a Mimosa bar so people can help themselves to a refill. I set out our favorite champagne flutes [we were gifted a set for our wedding 😉] and an assortment of juices, especially for those that prefer a traditional mimosa, the orange juice is readily available. I personally really like adding a splash of orange with the cranberry juice to get the mix of flavors! The color turns out to be such a pretty pink!
And the boys get to have some floating cranberries in their juice cups, too!
If you ask me, the frozen cranberries and Rosemary are the stars of the show. They really make this drink so festive and fun!
