4 BUSY MOM HACKS TO HELP CURB THE SNACK TIME CHAOS
If you’ve got little ones, then you know how crazy life can get. Especially when you’re trying to stay organized with schedules, pick-ups, drop-offs and everything in between. We’re constantly on the go! One thing is inevitable in all of the craziness, the kids are going to get hungry! In order to help curb the snack-time chaos, I’ve come up with a few simple mom hacks that have ultimately made my life easier, as well as helped to teach the boys some responsibility.
And that it actually pays to help out Mom & Dad!
Here is what has been working for us!:
1 // BUY IN BULK TO STAY WELL-STOCKED
Keeping all 3 boys happy all at the same time can be tough, but it’s easy to do when you find their favorite snacks are now available in a multipack at Walmart! The NABISCO Snacking Essentials Variety 30 Count Multipack is the perfect solution for our busy family. What I love about these snack packs is they are perfectly portioned! 6 RITZ crackers, 2 Chips Ahoy! Cookies, and 2 OREO Cookies per pack!
Picking up a Snacking Essentials Variety 30 Count Multipack in store at Walmart or via Walmart online grocery for pick-up or delivery ensures we have plenty on hand to help us through weekday snacks before or after practice, lunchtime or on-the-go sports weekends or road trips!
We also love the RITZ Bits Variety 20 Count Multipack [10 individual packs of cheese & 10 peanut butter crackers]!
2 // CREATE A DEDICATED SNACK BIN IN THE PANTRY
Contrary to popular belief, I actually WANT my kids to be able to reach their own snacks! We have always had a routine snack schedule around here 10 am & 4 pm and we’ve had that schedule in place since our oldest, Henry was 2! He’s going to be 9 this Summer 😉 Of course, there are times when we have to bend, but for the most part we stick to it. That way, the kids are not begging for snacks from sun up to sun down!
We added the Snacking Essentials Variety 30 Count Multipacks [RITZ crackers, OREO Cookies and Chips Ahoy! Cookies] to the bin and the kids can help themselves to their own individual-sized snack packs!
The perfect on-the-go lunch/snack solution for any occasion. Plus, there’s something for everyone – salty & sweet!
3 // USE LABELS
Labels help teach kids independence and how to take some responsibility to help mom and dad out! Label the dedicated snack bin and any other bins the kids might need access to. We have one for “Bread & Wraps“, “Snacks & Treats” and “Chips & Pretzels” in our pantry. The boys have learned to help put things away when we’re finished with something as well as grab something for me if I need help.
We also love having these labeled bins so when it comes to packing their lunches, I can ask them to grab something from the bin to add to their lunchbox.
I find it easiest to pack their lunches the night before – right after dinner when we’re all in the kitchen shuffling things around anyways. When dinner is cleaned up, dishwasher is loaded and running and lunches are packed, there is so much less stress [and mess] in the morning!
4 // KEEP A LOADED BASKET IN THE CAR FOR ON-THE-GO NIGHTS & WEEKENDS
Load ’em in and head out! We are always. on. the. Go!
This mom hack probably takes the prize! I found a basket that fits on the floor in between the boys’ seats in my car and loaded it up with snacks.
The NABISCO Snacking Essentials Variety 30 Count Multipack works great, again because there’s something for all! I put a smaller bin inside to hold the snack packs and then tossed in some bottled water, hand sanitizer, my mask / wipes organizer, sunscreen & bug spray for when we’re on the go.
I love having everything in one spot and now I never have to deal with hangry kids when we’re back and forth between each boys’ practice or have long weekends on the baseball field.
The kids love having the option of a pack of RITZ Crackers or the perfect portion of OREO Cookies or Chips Ahoy! Cookies. I can pass them back after school pick-up, before or after practice as well as hand them out to friends and teammates because they’re always in the car! When I need to refill, I take the basket inside and grab my back-up packs from the pantry. It really does help to have several boxes on hand.
Do you think any of these hacks will work in your house?! Have you used Walmart pick-up or delivery before? Isn’t it a gamechanger!
Hopefully you’ll grab some new NABISCO Snacking Essential Variety 30 Count Multipacks next time you’re there, as well as implement some of my tips into your own family’s routine. I’m always looking for tips and tricks to make #momlife easier so if you’ve got any, please do share!
