Another glimpse of a space I added a little holiday cheer – our Master Bedroom. I’ve always had a vision of putting a Christmas tree in the corner of our bedroom with nothing but lights. Well, this year I did it. It truly feels magical reading or watching TV in bed with the glow of the tree lighting up the room. Today I’m sharing a few snapshots of the space and the 5 Ways to Add Holiday Cheer to the Bedroom!
Maybe you want to spruce up the guestroom before family comes to visit for Christmas. Or maybe you want to enjoy some simple Christmas décor in your own room like I did!

5 WAYS TO ADD HOLIDAY CHEER TO THE BEDROOM
ONE // PUT UP A CHRISTMAS TREE
This tip might be obvious, right?!
This is a sure-fire way to transform your bedroom into a holiday retreat. But you don’t have to add a full-sized tree. Even a small pre-lit tree in the corner [5′ or less] or even a tabletop tree on the end of your dresser will give off that magical glow in the evening.
We put up a 7′ tree that had been in storage for a couple years [ever since we purchased our 9′ flocked tree for the Family Room.] Our other 9′ tree replaced this one in our Living Room.
I didn’t add a single ornament, just a few extra light strands and a timer to ensure it turns on promptly at 4 pm and then off by 11. I love falling asleep or even just watching TV or reading by the glow of the tree.
TWO // SWAP OUT YOUR PILLOW COVERS FOR SOMETHING MORE FESTIVE
I added these wine-colored velvet pillow covers in front of our Euro shams and behind the two striped lumbars.
The pop of red looks so gorgeous against the all-white bedding backdrop.
They come in a pack of two, so I ordered 2 sets. At roughly $6 a pillow, I don’t mind only using them for the month of December. Who knows, maybe they’ll stay on the bed for awhile longer this winter. When I’m done, I’ll remove, wash and store them away until next holiday season. I can always use them in the Living Room or Family Room, too!
THREE // ADD A SMALL VASE OF RED FLOWERS
A dozen red roses from Trader Joe’s trimmed down to fit my simple black vase makes a fresh & simple addition to my nightstand.
I rarely do this, but often will add fresh flowers or clippings to the nightstand in the Guestroom.
Spoiler alert: I won’t keep these roses in my bedroom for more than a day or two. I’ll move them out into a main space for us all to enjoy. Or maybe I’ll split up the bouquet and pop them into a smaller vase and then put another small vase on my bar cabinet or desk.
FOUR // HANG A WREATH ON A PIECE OF ART OR MIRROR
I added a command hook to the front of my art piece and then hung the wreath on it! It look less than 30 seconds and I love how it looks!!
I used a regular command hook [for up to 1 pound] but you could get the hooks specifically made to hang on windows if you’re worried about it staying. Mine has been hung on this hook for 3 days now and no issues!
You could also hang a small wreath on a mirror or just on the plain wall. Instant Christmas cheer!
FIVE // ADD TABLETOP DECOR OR A HOLIDAY CANDLE
The frosted glass tree [$3] & the mini gold one [$1] both came from the Bullseye Spot at Target. I have a thing for mini trees. I gathered all of mine [or some lol] together on the top shelf of my Family Room built-ins and absolutely adore how they look grouped together.
You can see more of it in the Family Room Christmas Tour here.
But a trio of them is just as sweet 😉
And those are my tips for 5 simple ways to add holiday cheer to your bedroom!
