A Stylish Couples Getaway at the Skylark Hotel in Palm Springs - room keys - This is our Bliss

On our recent escape this February, we stayed at the boutique Skylark Hotel, a retro-inspired desert hideaway that feels stylish yet completely laid-back. It ended up being the perfect home base for slow mornings by the pool, sunset cocktails, and one of the main reasons we planned the trip in the first place — golf in the Coachella Valley! T played in a 3-day golf tournament, so I tagged along for some relaxation amongst beautiful views.

One of the first things that stood out when we arrived was the charm and personality of the property. Check-in happens inside a polished silver bullet Airstream, which immediately sets the tone for the playful, retro Palm Springs vibe.

It was one of the coolest and most unique hotel check-in spots I’ve ever seen!

From there, the property unfolds into colorful desert murals, mid-century inspired details, and thoughtfully designed outdoor spaces that feel both modern and nostalgic.

Even the old-school room keys add to the charm — a fun throwback that feels perfectly fitting for a boutique desert stay like this!

The hotel offers 28 unique and stylish rooms with 4 distinct types – either King or Queen beds, offering a variety of in-room amenities – free high-speed FIOS internet, flat screen TVs, air conditioning, refrigerators, a safe, and a coffee maker.

Walkable Location, Mountain Views & Easy Golf Access

Another thing we loved about staying at the Skylark was the location. It’s close enough to downtown Palm Springs that you can easily walk or take a quick drive to explore shops, restaurants, and local favorites, but it still feels peaceful and tucked away from the busier areas.

Palm Springs, CA - This is our Bliss

Throughout the property, you’re surrounded by beautiful views of the San Jacinto Mountains, making mornings by the pool and evenings by the fire pits even more special.

I truly couldn’t get over the view! It was spectacular!

Even at night!

Guests are also treated to a complimentary breakfast each morning, which was such a nice way to start the day before heading out to explore or relax by the pool. The dining space was separate from The Lost Property restaurant and featured fresh-brewed coffee, eggs, bacon and a full bar!

Golf was one of the main reasons for this trip, and the location made it incredibly easy. I drove Ted to a couple of different courses during our stay, and each one was less than 30 minutes away, making early tee times simple and stress-free. The hotel also has a convenient on-site parking lot, which makes coming and going easy whether you’re heading out for golf, shopping, or dinner!

It really ended up being the best of both worlds — a relaxed boutique stay with easy access to everything Palm Springs is known for.

Dinner at Lost Property Restaurant & Bar

One of the biggest highlights of the stay was dinner at Lost Property Restaurant & Bar, the hotel’s on-site restaurant that brings a lively dining experience right to the property. The food was incredible!

The space has a stylish desert lounge feel — warm lighting, great music, and a cocktail program that immediately sets the tone for a fun night out!

Some of the highlights from our dinner:

  • Creative craft cocktails that feel very Palm Springs
  • Elevated but approachable modern American dishes
  • A relaxed but energetic atmosphere perfect for date night
  • The convenience of a great restaurant right on property

Menu items we tried:

  • kale salad
  • Caesar salad
  • Pomme Frites
  • Roasted Chicken & Risotto
  • Cheeseburger
  • Fish & Chips
  • Butter cake

After dinner, we wandered back to the courtyard for one last drink by the fire pits — one of those simple vacation moments that makes a getaway feel extra memorable.

Why We’d Come Back

Between the boutique desert design, walkable location, complimentary breakfast, proximity to great golf courses, and standout dining at Lost Property, the Skylark Hotel is an ideal spot for a couples getaway in Palm Springs.

It’s stylish, relaxed, and full of the kind of little details that make a stay memorable — exactly what you want from a desert escape.

The weather was a tad on the chilly side for part of our stay, but we found ourselves poolside, even if a sweatshirt was needed!
