INNINGS FEST 2022
Another “Around Arizona” post to share! You can catch up on the series here.
This past weekend I attended Innings Fest with my college roommate & bestie and a big group of friends. They are her childhood friends who I’ve gotten to know over the years and they’ve become my own.
One of our friend’s husbands plays in a Chicago band, The Hemispheres and they play for the show, “Off the Mound with Ryan Dempster” at the Fest. It’s got a late night show vibe and his guests are all baseball legends.
If you’re local to Chicago, check out The Hemispheres here. Our friend, Patrick Muldoon founded the band in 2006, which pays homage to the legends of Soul, Motown, and Classic R&B. In addition to playing at Innings Fest, they play clubs, weddings and private events in Chicago.
INNINGS FEST @ TEMPE BEACH PARK
It was my first time attending, but it’s the fest’s 3rd year. Innings Fest is a 2 day festival held at Tempe Beach Park in downtown Tempe near Tempe Town Lake. Tempe Beach Park is the perfect setting for outdoor fun, picnics, festivals, concerts and relaxation. This 25-acre urban oasis offers more than 5 miles of paths and exercise trails. Tempe Beach Park is not only home to Innings Festival, but also Tempe Fantasy of Lights Boat Parade, Aloha Festival and more. The park is open daily from 5 a.m. to 12 a.m.
Innings Festival features 3 stages and over 18 rock, pop and alt-country artists and you can see the lineup of bands here. The headliners were The Foo Fighters on Saturday night and Tame Impala on Sunday night, but I loved seeing Fitz and the Tantrums and Black Pumas.
The festival combines baseball & music and typically takes place the weekend before Spring training begins here in Tempe, AZ.
Spring training hasn’t begun yet, because of the MLB lockout, but we still managed to have a great time! Hopefully Major League Baseball and the MLB players Association can reach an agreement to get this season going.
These girls come every year, so its just a bonus that we live here now and I get to join them!
Already looking forward to Innings Fest 2023! And the start of baseball season later this Spring!
