Our Moody Wallpaper Accent Wall in the Primary Bedroom

Hey Hey out there! I have an exciting and pretty large One Room Challenge update to share today so I’m glad you’re here! I had to take a little time off from the blog last week since my boys were on their 2nd week of Fall Break. But over the weekend, I got busy and today you get a sneak peek of what I was up to! Here is Our Moody Wallpaper Accent Wall in the Primary Bedroom.

If you are just tuning in, we decided to give our Primary bedroom a little TLC during the Fall 2022 One Room Challenge. As a Guest participant, I’ll be ticking away at this space over the course of 8 weeks. This is only my 3rd update, but it is officially Week 4 of the ORC already. So we are at the halfway mark and thankfully I now have the biggest bedroom project under my belt! There is still plenty to do, but the majority of the labor-intensive work has been checked off the list.

Woo hoo!

Come take a look…

OUR MOODY WALLPAPER ACCENT WALL IN THE PRIMARY BEDROOM

I’ve used wallpaper in several spaces over the years. There is just something about a feature wall that makes a statement and gives the room some personality.

In the Spring ORC, we wallpapered our Powder Room ceiling with a bold floral print paper and in our last house, we wallpapered our bedroom, Winston’s Nursery, and Simon’s Big Boy Room.

This is my second time working with Tempaper utilizing their amazing peel-and-stick removable wallpaper. It is so extremely user-friendly – basically error-proof since it is re-positionable.

I love dark moody spaces so thought by adding a dark wallpaper would create a dramatic vibe in the bedroom. And this gorgeous Black Linen Grasscloth paper is the perfect contrast against our white bedding and the other light-colored walls [SW Gossamer Veil].

Our wallpaper accent wall was finished in a day, only taking a couple of hours from start to finish. Our wall is 10′ x 13′ and we used 7 rolls of black linen grasscloth paper to cover the area. We did have a slight obstacle with 2 windows on that wall, but it was still a fairly easy job – just a bit more cutting was required!

We also have textured walls throughout our home, but unless you’re inspecting with a magnifying glass, you can’t see any of it through the paper.

MATERIALS NEEDED

As far as tools required, the main ones are the squeegee and a utility knife. The squeegee is a great smoothing tool. You use the felt side to get out the bubbles and the hard, plastic side to guide the paper in the corners and molding. A craft or utility knife does the trick for cutting the paper at the ceiling and down below at the baseboards.

This grasscloth is truly stunning. There are subtle metallic silver lines running through the paper. Such a beautiful contrast against the dark background. Pictures just don’t do this paper justice!

I was truly pleased with the outcome. It looks like an entirely different room!

I don’t want to give away too much so I’ll save the rest of the pretty shots for the Reveal 😉

Thank you to Tempaper for gifting me this product and partnering on our space.
