Primary Bedroom Progress // ORC Week 7 Update

Eeeek we are only one week away from the end of the Fall 2022 One Room Challenge! I must say, we probably made the most progress in the bedroom in the last week! Most of the main elements are in place, so styling, photographing, editing, and writing the Reveal post is pretty much all that’s left! Come see the Primary Bedroom Progress for my Week 7 Update!

Welcome to Week 7! If you’re just tuning in, I am putting the finishing touches on our Primary Bedroom in the new house. We moved from Illinois to Arizona in July of 2021 and I have been working my way around our home trying to add my personal touch to each space.

The Bi-annual One Room Challenge is a great opportunity to get some work done and I am thrilled I decided to work on our bedroom this Fall. In every other home, I’ve waited at least 3-5 years to spruce up the bedroom, so this is a welcomed treat 😉

We’ve been trucking along at a steady clip and today I have quite a few sneak peeks to share. I’m only going to give you a mini glimpse at this week’s progress. I don’t want to inadvertently ruin the Reveal next week!

OUR NEW BED!

First, the wallpaper went up, then the DIY Statement art over the bed and now we have a new bed! It was actually a random FB Marketplace find. The couple had received a brand new King bed only a few days before, changed their mind, but missed the 48-hour return window. Crazy policy, but lucky for me it worked for us!

We got to work assembling the bed and now we have a proper set-up again. After selling our bedroom furniture before the move, we were using this basic platform bedframe until we found something more permanent. I absolutely love how the upholstered headboard looks on the wallpaper wall and under the art piece.

SIDE CURTAIN RODS + LINEN PANELS

We also got the curtain rods and panels up! Since we only did small side rods, this was a quick & painless project. I love how the drama of the black wall is now carried throughout the window wall.

These black cotton + linen panels give off the perfect moody vibe, but are not too heavy of a material. And the gold rods with the acrylic balls are so pretty. Both were Amazon finds!

UPDATED CEILING FAN

This gorgeous new Kichler ceiling fan was installed last week and it is exactly what I had wanted. The fan blades are satin black with subtle gold details, LED light, and great air output & circulation [3-speed options].

It’s stunning up close.

FUN NEW RUG

And lastly, we swapped out our old rug for this gorgeous Loloi rug from their Chris Loves Julia collection. It grounds the neutral bed & bedding and plays off the abstract art on the wall.

This rug actually reminds me of the black & ivory rug that we used to have in our last 2 homes in the Living Rooms.

That rug was a top-selling rug for years!

So that about covers our progress for the week. Here is where we stand overall:

PRIMARY BEDROOM PLANS AND CHECKLIST:

• add a wallpaper accent wall
• get a headboard
• replace table lamps – found some, still deciding!!
• new nightstands? [larger would be ideal] – still searching
• swap ceiling fan – it was installed this week!
• replace the rug
• add window treatments / install curtain rods & curtain panels
• create a large DIY art piece
• create a cozy nook in the corner w/ an accent chair
• style the dresser and nightstands
• MISC. projects:
  • __elevate the fiddle leaf fig tree in the corner – bought new planter pot!
