Planning our family’s first Disney trip felt equal parts magical and overwhelming — especially traveling as a family of five. One thing became clear very quickly: where you stay matters. We chose Hilton Anaheim, a Disney Good Neighbor Hotel, and it completely changed our experience in the best way. Hilton Anaheim is a Disney Good Neighbor Hotel, which is a huge win for first-time Disney families. Being just minutes from Disneyland — with a quick 5-minute shuttle to the parks — made early mornings and late nights far more manageable.
Less time navigating logistics, more time enjoying the magic!
As a good neighbor hotel, the Anaheim Regional Transportation [ART] shuttle bus makes a stop at the Hilton Anaheim and takes you right to the park and then home when you’re done. Purchasing a day pass is super easy and inexpensive!
As the largest hotel in Orange County, Hilton Anaheim also feels like a destination in itself, offering space, flexibility, and amenities that work for families, couples, business travelers, and everyone in between.

We were among the first guests to experience Hilton Anaheim following its major renovation, and the transformation is immediately noticeable.

One of the biggest reasons Hilton Anaheim worked so well for our family was how effortless everything felt.
Renovated Pool & Outdoor Spaces
The updated pool area was a highlight for our kids and a great place to unwind after the park! My boys love a good night swim! It felt calm, relaxing, and like a mini vacation within our Disney trip.
The areas around the pool were beautifully remodeled as well!
Food & Beverage Options Right on Property
Dining at Poppy’s: Easy, Elevated, and Family-Friendly
One of the biggest wins of staying at Hilton Anaheim was having great food options right on property.
Starting our mornings with breakfast at Poppy’s made Disney days feel calm instead of rushed. It was the perfect way to fuel up before heading to the parks — no extra planning required!
We also enjoyed dinner at Poppy’s, our first night there after arriving at the Hilton. After a long day of travel, it was a great spot. Thoughtfully prepared dishes, a relaxed atmosphere, and the convenience of staying on-site made it easy, since we wanted to explore the property and still get to bed early to prepare for our first big day at Disney!
The boys loved the kids’ cheeseburger!
Poppy’s Lounge: A Little Happy Hour for Mom & Dad
While the kids were winding down, Poppy’s Lounge became a favorite spot for a relaxed happy hour for mom and dad.
Craft cocktails, shareable bites, and a stylish but comfortable vibe made it feel like a true treat — and a reminder that Disney trips can still feel elevated for parents too!
Hilton Anaheim offers multiple on-site dining options, which were incredibly convenient:
Poppy’s Lounge – a stylish lobby bar with craft cocktails, shareable bites, and a relaxed atmosphere
Poppy’s Restaurant – full-service dining with thoughtfully prepared dishes
Hansen’s Market – an elevated grab-and-go market with snacks, drinks, and quick bites perfect for busy mornings or late nights
Starbucks – Another small detail that made a big difference: Starbucks right on property! We grabbed coffee in the morning on the way to the shuttle, which was such a convenience!
Not having to leave the property for quality food made traveling with kids significantly easier!
A True Southern California Location — Beyond Disney
Another major perk of staying at Hilton Anaheim is its central location.
In addition to being steps from Disneyland and the Anaheim Convention Center, the hotel is just a 20-minute drive to Huntington Beach, making it easy to add a beach day to your itinerary. We didn’t squeeze in any time to dip our toes in the water, but next time, we definitely will!

Between the Disney Good Neighbor status, brand-new renovation, spacious rooms, family-friendly amenities, and easy access to the parks, Hilton Anaheim allowed us to focus on what mattered most: making memories together.
This stay set the tone for our first Disney experience, and I’d absolutely choose it again!
