Western Chic Outfit Ideas: 3 Stylish Looks for Country Concerts, Rodeos & More
OUTFIT 1: Black Fringe + Snakeskin

GET THE FULL OUTFIT DETAILS HERE
black fringe dress // snakeskin boots // western hat // black clutch // silver cuff // western belt // rings // sunglasses // Wrangler perfume
If you want a western look that feels a little edgy and perfect for a night out, this is it.
Why this works:
- The black fringe dress is the statement piece, so the rest of the look stays mostly black, silver and neutral
- The snakeskin ankle boots add a fun texture without competing with the dress
- The western hat, silver jewelry and tooled black clutch pull the whole look together
💡 Perfect for: a country concert, rodeo, Nashville girls’ trip, western-themed party or date night. You could also lose the hat for a slightly less western take on the look.
OUTFIT 2: Feminine Western in Chocolate Brown

GET THE FULL OUTFIT DETAILS HERE
brown dress // tan cowboy boots // fringe western bag // turquoise earrings // turquoise necklace // western rings // printed scarf // brown watch // aviator sunglasses
For a softer, more feminine take on western style, I love this chocolate brown look.
Why this works:
- The flowy brown dress is a gorgeous fall piece on its own, and the turquoise jewelry completely transforms it
- Brown and turquoise are one of my favorite western-inspired color combinations
- The tall tan boots, fringe bag, printed scarf and watch give it plenty of western personality while the dress keeps it feminine and elevated
💡 Perfect for: a winery weekend, western wedding event, country concert, dinner out, fall girls’ trip or vacation out West. It would also be a gorgeous option for family photos in a desert or mountain setting.
OUTFIT 3: Casual Western Style

GET THE FULL OUTFIT DETAILS HERE
cowboy graphic tee // light-wash jeans // gingham jacket // red cowboy boots // brown fringe bag // layered turquoise necklace // turquoise earrings
This might be the easiest of the three looks to recreate with pieces already in your closet.
Why this works:
- A light-wash jean and vintage-inspired graphic tee are an easy, comfortable base
- The black-and-white gingham jacket isn’t technically a western piece, which keeps the outfit current and wearable rather than overly themed
- The red cowboy boots add the perfect pop of color to an otherwise neutral outfit
- The brown fringe bag and turquoise-and-gold jewelry finish it, with turquoise bringing in the western element and gold keeping it modern
💡 Perfect for: a casual country concert, rodeo, fall festival, brewery, football weekend, girls’ trip or sightseeing on a trip out West.
How to Wear the Western Trend Without Looking Like You’re Wearing a Costume
The easiest way to wear western style is to mix western-inspired pieces with things you already own.
You don’t need cowboy boots, fringe, turquoise, a giant belt buckle and a cowboy hat all in the same outfit. Instead, choose one or two western statement pieces and let those be the focus.
A pair of cowboy boots can instantly transform a simple dress. A turquoise necklace looks gorgeous with brown, cream, denim and black. A fringe bag adds texture to jeans and a tee. And a western graphic tee is probably one of the easiest ways to try the trend without making a huge commitment.
I also love pairing western pieces with more classic wardrobe staples. Straight-leg or wide-leg denim, simple jackets, feminine dresses and neutral basics balance out the more obvious western elements.
The result feels western chic instead of western costume!
What to Wear to a Country Concert
If you’re specifically shopping for a country concert outfit, think about where the concert is being held before deciding what to wear.
For an outdoor concert or festival, I’d go with denim, a graphic tee and cowboy boots or another comfortable shoe you can stand in for hours. Add a jacket or layer if temperatures are going to drop after sunset.
For an indoor concert or a night out before and after the show, you can have a little more fun. A fringe dress, statement boots or turquoise jewelry can make a basic outfit feel concert-ready without going overboard.
And if you’re traveling for the concert, especially somewhere like Nashville, bring pieces you can mix and match throughout the weekend rather than packing a completely different themed outfit for every night.

What to Wear to a Rodeo or Western-Themed Event
A rodeo is another perfect excuse to pull out the cowboy boots!
Denim is always an easy starting point. Pair jeans with a graphic tee, button-down or jacket, then add western accessories depending on how dressed up you want to be.
For something a little more elevated, try a feminine dress with cowboy boots and turquoise jewelry. You’ll still fit the western vibe, but the outfit feels polished enough for dinner or drinks afterward.
What to Pack for a Trip Out West
If you’re heading to Arizona, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Texas or another western destination, you definitely don’t need an entirely themed wardrobe.
Instead, pack a few western-inspired pieces that work with the rest of your travel capsule.
Cowboy boots, great denim, a graphic tee, a versatile jacket, turquoise jewelry and one western bag can give you plenty of outfit combinations without overpacking.
I’d also stick with a cohesive palette of denim, cream, camel, chocolate brown, black and turquoise. Everything mixes together easily, and those colors photograph beautifully against desert and mountain scenery.
I’ll be sharing a style post soon with exactly what I packed and wore out west in Colorado, as well as on our recent trip to Tombstone, Arizona, so stay tuned!
Western Chic Outfit Ideas for Fall
Fall is probably my favorite season for playing with western style because there are so many opportunities for layering.
Suede, leather, denim, fringe and cowboy boots all work naturally with fall wardrobes. Add a jacket over a graphic tee, pair cowboy boots with a flowy dress or simply add a turquoise necklace to your favorite sweater and jeans.
You can go as subtle or as western as you want!
Why I’m Loving These Western Looks
Of these three outfits, I love that each one works for a completely different occasion. The black fringe dress is ready for a night out, the brown dress and turquoise combination is feminine and elevated, and the graphic tee, denim and red boots look is casual enough to wear all day.
Whether you’re headed to a country concert, rodeo, Nashville, western-themed event or taking a trip out West, hopefully these looks give you a little inspiration for putting together your own western chic outfit.
