My office has been a work in progress for quite awhile now, so I decided what better time than now to get it over the finish line! And to make it a bit more manageable [since the kids are all home right now], I’m going to be working on it in phases. First up is the wall where my desk sits. Since I love the design phase of creating a new space, I thought I would share my vision for this “wall” in Mood Board form for you. Here is my Edgy Glam Desk Nook Mood Board!
My most recent design post included 3 Kitchen Mood Boards and the feedback was fabulous. It sounds like a lot of you are working on some home improvement projects right now, so if it’s not your kitchen, maybe it’s a work space for you, your significant other or kids!

EDGY GLAM HOME OFFICE DESK NOOK
I’ve been blogging from home for the last 6 years, so it’s important for me to have a dedicated work space. My desk also serves as the “hub” of our home for paying bills, organizing kids’ paperwork, etc.
The space I have is functioning, but it doesn’t feel finished. I’m a firm believer that our surroundings should make us feel calm, happy and comfortable and a home office should be no different.
I want this space to be tidy, organized and decorated so that it looks and feels like me. A space that gives me life and sparks creativity!
Do you have a dedicated work space?
Does it make you feel this way?!
BRINGING A VISION TO LIFE
I’m a visual person so it’s no surprise when I finally came to the realization that I couldn’t fully finish a space unless I sat down and turned my ideas into a design board.
Even if I have already begun working on a room, I now remind myself to stop and come up with a design. It’s almost like a road map for me to continue the process and then hopefully be able to successfully execute my plan.
This space was once the boys’ playroom until I decided I needed a space for myself. We had a desk / office space set-up in the guestroom, but Simon would be moving in soon since we were pregnant with baby number 3.
It was a domino effect which resulted in:
Winston’s Neutral Nursery
Simon’s Big Boy Room
Basement Guest Room for Under $100
And now, the last piece of the puzzle is my Office! So today, I’m sharing my plans for the desk wall – what it looks like and our checklist for getting it done!

We did order the desk and it arrived yesterday! I’m hoping we can put it together today to get this little space rolling! I haven’t pulled the trigger on the riser yet, but I think I will in the next few days.
I love the sleek look of the acrylic!
By raising my monitor and having a pull-out tray for my keyboard, the top of the desk will finally be free of clutter and allow me more overall surface space!
We moved the playroom rug into the biggest’s room and moved the living room rug into my office, so although I love the one above, I’ll probably sit tight with what I have for awhile.
I ordered the dot print file folders and love the black, white and metallic gold pattern! They are already in use 😉
I’m on the hunt for chairs, but this armless, black and gold one is a top contender.
And for the gallery wall, I’m thinking I’ll add a few subtle hints of pink. After all, in a house full of boys, I am limited on the number of rooms I can add a feminine touch to!
I also love the idea of adding a dry erase calendar among the art.
Since this plan is a paired down version of what the entire room needs, it shouldn’t take too long. Fingers crossed. It’s a matter of picking out the items, watching my budget and getting it all set up.
The next areas I need to tackle in this room is decorating and organizing the built-in shelves [you can see them here]. We have both open shelving and shelves on the bottom with doors on them. There are a total of 4 open shelves and 4 cabinet doors [with 8 shelved behind them total].
I’ll keep you posted as we progress through the desk nook and when I move onto the rest of the Office space!
