Simple Saturday: How to Create Fake Chalkboard Art

Happy Saturday! I thought I would end the week with the last of my Thanksgiving Table details and share how to create fake chalkboard art. It is quick, simple and chalk-free! There is such a craze over chalkboard art right now – you can paint glass and mirrors with chalkboard spray paint, create look-alike chalkboard art in Photoshop or using other editing software, write with chalk on the real deal or you can make it like I did. You only need 2 things – black cardstock paper and a white gel pen (both from Michaels). That’s it!

I chose to cut my paper down to 5″ x 7″ to fit my frame. Otherwise, all you have to do is come up with a phrase or quote and start lettering! After I finished, I actually decided to tape my art to the front of the frame (on top of the glass) so there wasn’t a glare and you could see it more clearly. I propped it up on my Thanksgiving table and instantly, a personal touch was added. I am definitely going to make another fake chalkboard art piece for Christmas.

This was such a good idea since I suck at writing artistically with chalk!
