Hi friends! Today I’m sharing what I wore in New York City last month while visiting for the Annual Better Homes & Gardens Stylemaker Event. I thought a quick recap of the outfits that worked for me during my time there would be good to have all in one post! Here is What I Packed & Wore in NYC.

As you may know, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to attend the BHG StyleMaker Event each year in NYC. Its an invite-only event hosted by Better Homes & Gardens and takes place each Fall. I shared a recap post several years ago [and probably should do another updated one!]. Its a one day event with several key-note speakers and special guests and then a cocktail party follows.
My blog gifrlfriends and I typically fly in a day or 2 before and stay an extra day to play in the city. We truly have the best time and it is definitely a special trip I look forward to each year!
I’d love to sit down and write up a full racap of everything we did, but first let’s talk about the clothes!
Come take a peek at my NYC outfit picks during my Fall trip and at the end of the post, I’ll share a few additional items I packed for back-up options!
What I Packed & Wore in NYC
ONE // NYC OUTFIT: TRAVEL DAY
coatigan // leggings // hat // sling purse
This oversized sweater coat with pockets (size XS) is a travel favorite because I can wrap myself up on the plane like it’s a blanket when I get cold. I also love these leggings (size medium) for travel because they are seamless and a nice, thick material. They suck you in but are still comfortable!!
You can see my other favorite travel outfit ideas here.
TWO // NYC OUTFIT: WALKING AROUND & CASUAL DINNER
Blazer [similar] // turtleneck // jeans // sneakers
We walked around and checked out the area by our hotel on the day we got into the city. I brought the turtleneck as an easy neutral layering piece to wear under jackets and blazers, and then opted for sneakers for comfort!
THREE // NYC OUTFIT: DAYTIME EVENT
This is what I wore to the Stylemaker event. We were inside, so I brought a jacket in case it got chilly, plus I liked how it finished off the look.
I’m wearing a small in this ruffle shoulder jumpsuit and it would make a fabulous holiday party outfit! super comfortable, has pockets and the ruffle detail is darling.
Black or green would make great options too!
jumpsuit // heels // jacket // earrings
FOUR // NYC OUTFIT: COCKTAIL PARTY
This was definitely a statement dress! I love a short dress with long sleeves and this one had the most beautiful sequin, beaded and pearl embellishments! It has deep v-neck w/ trim detail and a cut-out back, too. The tiered ruffled skirt made it fun with movement! I’m in a size 4 in this party dress and it is currently more than 50% off. It comes in plain black, too (which is marked down to $34!).
You can see the details of the dress a little bit better in this mirror selfie I took before I left for the trip.
FIVE // NYC OUTFIT: RAINY DAY EXPLORING
turtleneck // jacket // jeans // boots // purse
Our free day in the city was a rainy one but we made the most of it! I luckily remembered to throw in this umbrella after checking the forecast while packing. We strolled around the city on the hunt for coffee and a couple museums. These lug boots were waterproof and my leather jacket repelled the rain as well!
And I just noticed that my ribbed gray turtleneck is on sale for $4 right now!! Its such a great closet staple! I’m in a size small.
The turtleneck comes in many other colors but they’re all are $15-$18 so snag the gray while it’s only FOUR DOLLARS!!
SIX // NYC OUTFIT: DINNER & BROADWAY
mesh turtleneck // trousers // leopard heels
The heels seemed like a good idea until I remembered how many puddles there were going to be after raining all day so I swapped them out for the same lug boots I wore all day! Then added the blazer for warmth over the hot pink mesh turtleneck (size small).
SEVEN // HOTEL ROOM PAJAMA PARTY
Cute pj’s are always a must and bonus points if you match your roomie!! I love the cool nights collection at Soma where I get most of my pajamas from.
As I mentioned earlier, I hope to be able to sit down and give you a quick rundown of everything we did during our short visit, but for now, I hope you enjoyed taking a peek at what I wore in NYC!
