Sheesh! I can’t believe its been over 6 weeks since I last shared what’s goin’ on with the basement! You saw that I finally wrapped up the gold metal & chalkboard label toy bin project this week, so while I was down there photographing the toy storage, I decided it was about time I showed you what was happening everywhere else! or at least the BAR for today!
Since the basement bathroom progress post, I’ve added hardware, accessories and decor, so my next post in there will be the reveal! I am still working on getting an electrician over here to move my vanity light over… The electrical was wired and the drywall was cut before the vanity was installed. So after that made its way in along with my new gold mirror, I now have to have the light shifted over a good 4 -5 inches in order for it to be centered. The quotes I received so far have been so outrageous!! Times like these, I really wish we could take an electrical project on ourselves. Neither of us are skilled in that area!
So, lets get to these basement bar shots! I am so very happy with where we’ve come in this space so far. Thankfully, I don’t have any regrets on finishes, fixtures, flooring, etc. Having buyer’s remorse or just a flat-out bad decision in any of these areas would be tough. We spent a chunk of change to make this project happen since we hired out the construction and labor. We just aren’t that handy 😉
Since its been awhile, here is where the basement started…
And here is where we are today…
The bar sort of butts up to the back of the couch and then from there & left, is the family room area. If you are sitting at the bar, you are front and center of the TV. I’ll be sharing family room progress photos in a separate post.
I’m thrilled with our bar stool selection, but we did have quite an ordeal getting them just right…or should I say…undamaged. They are from overstock and thankfully had a very pleasant customer service experience, but had some major issues with their packaging & shipping. We received cracked barstools, not once, but twice. 3rd shipment arrived in excellent condition. It took every ounce of me not to send them all back and start my hunt again!!
The LIGHTS! I fell in love with these pendant lights the moment I saw them! I had been searching for a clear glass pendant with some sort of metal detail – either bronze or antique brass. These are metal mesh tube inserts and they give off the coolest reflection on the wall when turned on. These, paired with a vintage tube light bulb – be still my heart!
And for the shelves… and the stacked stone feature wall…it really came together just how I envisioned it. I still have to work on the styling a bit (and fill those whiskey decanters!), but here is what it all looks like as of now…before I get the itch to start redoing it all ha!
We’ve entertained down there a couple of times and the boys spend time playing in the basement on a daily basis. Its wide open space with super soft carpet and they love it! Forts, tunnels, books and puzzles – they do it all here!
I will be trying to get the rest of the basement wrapped up and photographed in the coming weeks; I have so much more to share! – the play area, family room, bathroom and sources for all. I will still sprinkle in a few DIY project posts and other tid bits of things going on around the house as the basement progress continues on.
Thanks for being here and have a great day!
