Happy September and Labor Day weekend, friends! While we are planning to do a whole lot of nothing and lay low in the new neighborhood this weekend, I do have a FEW quick projects I’d like to wrap up. Most of them will take place in the biggest’s big boy room and I’ll be back next week to share an update on where we’re at! [If you missed my mood board for the big boy room, you can see it here.] Other than those odds and ends things and lots of family time, I’m also going to be picking out paint colors. And the paint isn’t for the walls. We are heading to the dark side and taking all of our interior doors with us!
Yes, black doors!
There’s something incredibly classy, sexy and sophisticated about a dark door, especially when its nestled inside a light-colored or white wall. We recently painted our entryway, living room and upstairs hallway white and the thought of all the beigy-yellowy-not-crisp-white doors in the new house getting a few coats of bold, black paint sort of makes my heart go pitter-patter. It’s no surprise I’m drawn to this look since I’ve always been a sucker for black and white. Sprinkle in some gold and it’s the perfect trifecta. I’m so excited for this all to go down in the new house and am hoping the end result is everything I’ve been dreaming of and more. Today, I’m going to share some of the swoon-worthy dark doors I’ve been eyeing over the last few months and are responsible for all the dreaming and scheming that’s been going on!
I can’t wait to show you images of our [future] black doors, but for now I’ll leave you with these…
BLACK DOOR INSPIRATION
Every time I see dark door, it reaffirms my decision to go for it. Can’t. Even. Wait. We’re outsourcing this job, because well, I’m impatient and we also got a ridiculously great quote from our painter. If you think this is something you want to go for in your own home, maybe even take this job on over the long labor day weekend, I know there are some great door painting tutorials on Pinterest. And if you want to follow along with my Black Doors Pinterest board for even more inspiration, check it out below!
And while you’re at it, don’t forget to pin this one!
Are you going to be doing any laboring on your own home or keeping it low-key this weekend?!
I’m waiting for a couple more packages to arrive with goodies for the big boy room, so the extent of my labor will be hanging art…but T on the other hand… 😉
Have a fabulous holiday weekend! See you back here next week!

September 6, 2016 at 10:59 AMYou’ve got me motivated now to get off my rear and get the rest of the doors painted like I keep saying I’m going to do. All those rooms are gorgeous! Can’t wait to see how it looks once you get everything finished–smart lady hiring the job out.

September 3, 2016 at 8:04 AMCan’t wait to see!!! I’m a big fan of black doors, too! Totally changed the look of our place. We did Black Fox, though. Really dark gray, almost black. I need motivation to finish the upstairs though. I got distracted after we finished our main level. Maybe I need to take your approach and have someone in to finish them quickly!
