We celebrated T’s birthday over the weekend on the most beautiful fall day. His parents got to town around 10, so we drank coffee and played with the boys out back, golfed in the afternoon and since we had a sitter at the house, we decided to have dinner out, too! But somehow, an early night in on Saturday still made for a long day of recovering on Sunday! And then Monday came and I knew it was time to get moving on some projects. One in particular, as you might guess…
So, how the dining room is coming along?!
Well….let’s see…ummm…can I get an extension, please?!!
Week 2 of the One Room Challenge with Linda at Calling It Home is here and unfortunately, the only physical evidence I have of any progress is a decrease in the bank account balance ha!
If you remember back to week 1 last week when I shared the before photos of our dining room and my design board for the space, you might remember that I was starting off with a pretty blank slate. Or a yellow one, rather. We have not had a functioning “dining” room for several years now. After the boys’ toy game got stronger and their “playtime” evolved into something that required more than a playmat or 24″ blanket on the floor, we opted to sell our dining room furniture and go for an all out playroom to house toys and do all the boy play things. So, long story short, we had quite a few things to purchase for the future dining space in our new home. Once I get all of my items ordered or scooped up while out thrifting (I’ve been doing quite a bit lately for the challenge!), I’ll show you just how it starts to come together. It will happen…I PROMISE! We’re almost halfway there. Yikes!
One of the first things I began hunting for was the perfect glam gold chandelier. I wanted a statement piece — a light fixture that would truly set the tone for the dining room. So when I discovered that Lamps Plus was interested in graciously partnering with me for the Fall 2016 ORC, I knew my lighting was in good hands! While searching for an amazing glam gold chandelier, I was able to drum up a few hundred options on their site. Yes, hundreds that fit the bill, so you can imagine that I had an extremely difficult time narrowing down my picks. Since I was madly in love with more than one chandelier, I thought I would share my top 12 fave glam gold chandeliers with you today!
one | two | three | four | five | six | seven | eight | nine | ten | eleven | twelve
Aren’t these Ah-mazing? Could you pick just one?!
Not only is their selection out of this world, but their site functionality is super user-friendly. While on the hunt for my dining room light, I was able to create a wish list and add lighting options to a named list as I was browsing. If I changed my mind, the light could easily be removed from the list and replaced by another option.
It made browsing a breeze by effortlessly keeping track of my favorite lights! I couldn’t help but get distracted while visiting their site time and time again, so I took it upon myself to create a few “other” wish lists for various other rooms in the house. I know right where to find them when the time comes!
But for now, let’s focus on getting rid of this guy. He’s just not quite cutting it.
Do you recall which chandelier I included in my mood board?
Yep!
The Possini Euro Renae Chandelier! It actually arrived this week and I can’t wait to get my hands on it. And by the looks of it, I have a little bit of work to do with my hands!
Some of the spikes have crystal leaves on the end, but I haven’t unwrapped them yet to peak because I don’t want anything to happen to them! I do have 2 wild ones running around here, so I think these will go up somewhere until I have time to prep for install!
I do have another lighting source on order and I can’t WAIT to show you what they look like. I hadn’t discovered them by the time I put together my dining room design board, but I can tell you that they’re pretty fabulous. Maybe I’ll share a peek next week or maybe you’ll have to wait until the reveal! 😉
For additional ORC sneak peeks and to follow along with progress in other areas of the house, make sure you’re hanging out with me on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. And of course, to see all of my inspiration images and ideas, pop over to Pinterest and follow This is our Bliss there too!
