Welcome back for the Week 4 update of our Dining Room Makeover! Yes, we are 4 weeks into the One Room Challenge with Calling It Home and I have some big checks checked off our list! I’m a total list-maker and given that we have less than 2 weeks left, I sure better be making those checks right and left right about now!
The biggest transformation so far has been the fresh paint. We went with Sherwin Williams Repose Gray and said adios to the yellow. Unfortunately, there are still several rooms in this house sporting those yellow walls, but not to worry. They will be taken care of soon enough. Just not right now during the ORC!
I shared last week in my week 3 update that the rug and light fixtures had arrived. Well, now…they are in place! The lights were installed yesterday and all of my lighting dreams came true. When it got dark out last night, I went in, turned the lights on, dimmed them and then went in the corner and sat down. The boys had just finished dinner and were playing nicely, so I thought I would sneak away for a few minutes and take in my semi-completed space. I’m sure T thought I was a little bit coo-koo when he came home and found me in there like that. What can I say? I wanted to hang with the new lights! He gave his 2 thumbs up of approval after seeing them hung, too.
And now for the other most recent update…we have new curtains AND cornice boards! DIY cornice boards, I might add. T was busy out in the garage over the weekend building these cornice boards [also referred to as pelmet boxes]. He did such a great job! If you’ve been reading over here for awhile, then you know T isn’t the handiest of handy, but he will definitely crank out a project every now and then when I need him to. He ROCKED the littlest’s nursery closet and pegboard install for the gallery wall!
I couldn’t be happier with how the window treatments turned out.
I went NAVY! What do you think?!
I’ll be back to post a full tutorial on our DIY cornice boards, but here is a snippet of what we were up to…
He was doing a lot of this…
and then I was inside doing a lot of that…
We still have to finish the bay window area, but we’re so close! They’ll be wrapped up this weekend just in time to start working on hanging the art pieces and begin some of the styling.
Speaking of art and styling, I’m crafting up some goodies with my recent patterned finds. I never shy away from some mixing and matching of prints and this room will be no exception.
Stay tuned to see what I’m creating!!
My bestie is coming by next week to help with some of the finishing touches. She is my decorating soul sister and was a HUGE help to me last ORC. ย Next week we’ll be reuniting to work on the dining room and of course you’ll get to see a few more peaks next week in my week 5 update and the rest on November 9th in the REVEAL post! ahhh so soon!
Wait a second.
Do you want to see the lights?!!!?
I was going to hold off, but then I thought that wasn’t very nice since I’ve been gushing over these babies for weeks now! ย Oh and not only am I in love with the chandelier, but these sconces stopped me dead in my tracks when I spotted them.
I’d say we have a *slight* improvement from before ha!
Don’t you agree?!
That’s all for today, but you can catch up if you’ve missed any of the previous ORC updates below:
