I can’t believe I’m actually typing these words…I’m jumping in the Fall 2020 One Room Challenge! While I’ve participated in several recent room challenges, it’s been 2.5 years since the ORC! I created a Neutral Nursery for our soon-to-be 3rd boy back in the Spring of 2018, but timing has been off every Spring and Fall since then. This round I decided it was a yes! You might remember the Shared Boys’ Bathroom Makeover in January, well now it’s time to give my middle guy’s bathroom some attention! Today, I’m introducing his Sophisticated Boy’s Bathroom Design + Before Photos!
The One Room Challenge hosted by Linda of Calling it Home is a 6 week design challenge where bloggers and influencers makeover a room in their home. There are a group of Featured Designers that share an update of their space each Wednesday and then Guest Participants [me] join in the fun on Thursdays!

SOPHISTICATED & SMALL BOY’S BATHROOM
This is my 4th One Room Challenge and I can’t wait to jump in and get this Bathroom project off the ground! Although I’m questioning my sanity seeing how my 2 older boys are eLearning, T is working from home and we have a toddler trying to run the show over here, too.
No matter what way you slice it, the ORC is never easy. After all, it wouldn’t be called a challenge if it was, right?!
And we juuuuust finished the $100 Room Challenge in September where we spruced up our Basement Family Room Lounge and Hangout space!
Let’s scroll down and see what the space looks like now. WARNING! It hasn’t been touched since we moved in 4 years ago. Well except if you could hanging a shower curtain and putting down an old bath mat!
BOY’S BATHROOM BEFORE
Hello, yellow!
What exactly is this floor tile?!
The room is no more than 5’x5′ so this space is going to be small, but mighty when it’s done. Picture anything but yellow when it’s done! Here is the vision I have for the bathroom.

I’ve never wanted my kid’s spaces too ever feel too kiddie-like. I prefer sleek and sophisticated spaces that they can grow into. Since I love high contrast, most rooms end up being black and white with small pops of color or pattern. This room is no exception. Simon’s bathroom is actually inside of his room [see the Big Boy Room Makeover here] so I want the rooms to flow together. When you enter his bedroom from the hallway, the door on your left is his bathroom. This set-up was actually super convenient when it was our Guestroom/office space.
We had to do some shuffling when preparing for baby #3 in the Spring of 2018, which is when we moved him out of the nursery. Then we brought his Big Boy Room to life in January of 2019. Now this big boy gets a Bathroom Refresh!
I say it every time and I’ll say it again. One of these days we’ll give ourselves a Master Bathroom Makeover, but for now, I guess we’ll just keep updating the kids’ ha!

Although the space is small, we’ve got a lot of work ahead of us. Since the tile work and plumbing will be outsourced, I’ve got to be on top of materials and scheduling with our contractors. Wish us luck to get this thing moving this week!
Be sure to come back and follow along each week with updates!
